Looking at a 2007 Shelby GT500 convertible.........white car with red trim / stripe package.  Is this color configuration rare?  Would you consider it popular or unpopular from a resale perspective?  Have read that you can expect a bit rougher ride in this vintage as well as some stiffer clutch operation..........true?  Have always been a Chevy guy with numerous old collectibles but with age I'm now moving out of the old car market and into something more maintenance free yet still fun for my "hobby car".

Thanks for any info you care to share on possible purchase of this era Shelby.

Welcome,

The red stripe package was rare. Not sure if there is a build matrix out there with those numbers.

I would concern myself with resale at this point. But to drive, and have FUN.

Clutch (if original) did require some pressure, but not too bad. I've had two 08's with the same clutch and I had no issues driving them.

If you like it, get it!

Motor on!

Good morning,  ohhawk and welcome aboard!    As a older car guy myself, I was big into the (mid-year) Vettes, but I also always really like the “Shelby Mustangs”!   Well as fate would have it, I fell into a great deal due to a very sad and unexpected circumstance!   I bought a very nice 2008 Shelby GT, Vista-blue, 5spd, coupe and it is a total “Blast” to pull a few gears and take some curves!     It’s only rated at 319 H.P. , but you would never know it , because it’s seat of the pants feel seems like it has a lot more!

Currently I feel these 07 & 08 Shelby GTs are one of the best (Bank for your “Buck”) fun cars that are out there!!         P.S.   I can honestly say that my Shelby GT always puts a “Big Smile” on my face!   :)                          J.M.O.       “MONGOOSE”       :peelout:

If the suspension is stock, the ride is decent and I never had a problem with my 2007 GT500- wife and  I took it on trips too. Drag and track raced it as well without issue. If the clutch is stock, it is stiff and not the greatest when accelerating from a stop due to its ceramic nature. Find out if it is because it might need replacing soon. The clutch is the only weak part.

:boring:

Umm goose how is that relevant to asking about a GT500? :club:  It's not! Get some forum etiquette.

LOL,that’s was like…… welcome to Team Shelby, let me talk about myself and Vettes, and cars that have absolutely nothing to do with what you are asking about because its all about me and  I am totally clueless as to how to answer your questions.

Not only was the posts wording poor etiquette,  most people with even a granule of common sense know that typing text in Bold, ALL CAPS, or using exclamation points!!!! on the internet are are each individually the  internet equivalent of shouting or yelling at someone, yet there is only ONE PERSON in here that manages to use not one but  ALL THREE!!!!.......In almost EVERY single Post!!!!!……it comes off as somebody having a “hey look at me, while jumping up and down having a CLOWN SHOW temper tantrum……...most forums have rules against such obnoxious texting behavior and quickly moderate it because it is generally regarded as offensive. People have pointed it out to him before………but heck,  nobody ever stops the same individual from name calling and ranting at people either, so I guess text formatting doesn’t matter either……., most people also know it  is also bad form and redundant to sign your post with your name in a bunch of Caps and Emojis too, because ALL of us already have a big avatar with our name above it on the left of the screen in each post we make.

Wow ! Pretty mean spirited. Not sure Mongoose deserved all that. The intent of his posts are always good natured, exuding enthusiasm and ultimately trying to be helpful. He's just trying to have fun ! I wonder how he'd feel after reading it, and how you felt after writing it.

Seriously?, before you pop off about someone's intentions always being good natured, go back in the ridiculous C8 thread and read the multiple rants and name calling sprees he went off on towards multiple people and then ask yourself how those people felt. You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. I was not being mean spirited and I have never ranted at or name called anyone. Btw, I was only one of two people who actually took the time to post an answer to the OP's question by taking time to research production numbers for him. You didn't even say hello to the OP, you just chose to waltz in here to try and play social justice warrior and give me grief.

Hey guy, I really appreciate your post and nice comments, and yes, please go back if you would like and read my posts, but also read theirs!  There’s a couple of guys on here that love criticizing and put-downs and usually do it quite a bit!  They especially like to target me because I love “Corvettes” and also my Shelby GT!     What really bothers these guys was having a C8 forum on a Team Shelby site!  This seems to drive them crazy because every so often they feel the need to come on the old C8 thread and make comments and try to stir things up again! Their goal is to trying shut us down when all us guys on that site have great conversations about our cars, shows and lots of other cool stuff!  Also I thing it really bothers these guys that are thread is very popular and gets a lot of hits because we have fun talking about cool stuff! Most of us guys on there own both Shelbys and Corvettes too!      Team Shelby was super nice about letting us continue with this very “ Popular Thread”!   I guess I should feel bad for these guys because all this must really stick in their “Craw”!!     By the way, did you notice I didn’t say any names or used any name calling!   That just isn’t cool in my “Book’!

P.S. What I really would like these guys to do, is take a really hard look in a mirror and then they will or should see the real name callers and trouble makers, and then maybe they’ll stop the “Bullying Tactics” that they like to “Still” use!!      Kids I might understand acting this way, but not (Grown Adults)!!!      J.M.O.          :peelout:

Hey guys,  I would just like to point out one thing that a fellow team member may possibly be right about is that I sometimes might not use proper etiquette in my posts.  I apologize if that offended anyone on here. No one would ever consider me to be a punctuation or English specialist. Yes, I do post with a lot of enthusiasm and my intent is to be good natured and positive and I expect the same in return. If I enjoyed controversy I would frequent a political forum rather than one intended for the enjoyment of car enthusiasts. I like to help out fellow members when I can with input or advice as I tried to do on a post above.

I hope we can continue to promote the Team Shelby forum by sharing positive insights and having an open mind to opinions other than our own.

  Later guys!                    :peelout:
