Dale Jerome
I purchased the Ford Performance shift ball and want to replace the stock shift knob. I'm trying to remove the shift knob by turning counter-clockwise, but this thing doesn't want to come off. Is there some trick to removing them? VNMSNK
A lot of muscle or a good strap wrench if you are trying to preserve the oem shift knob. Ford uses loctite liberally. It will come off though. Here is a thread about it too: http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php/topic/93416-2016-gt350-shift-ball-swap/ Edited September 29, 2017 by DGGT500
BIKEBOY
I had to use a pair of Channel Locks over a rag...... See my thread below..... Strap wrench DID NOT work!! These knobs are unGodly tight. Note: Do not use just a rag, use an old leather belt under the Channel Locks. The rag allowed a small amount of "teeth marks" on my stock knob. Then use only blue Loctite in case you wanna remove the new knob in the future. Edit- In my experience, the knob doesn't just "break loose" either..... It requires the same amount of force to spin it almost all the way off. Just an FYI. Edited September 29, 2017 by BIKEBOY
TEvans
My GT350 shifter knob turns very easily. Will have to look into upgrading the shifter knob and then using the blue Loctite.
The Chairman
Strap wrench worked fine on mine. Came off without any issues.

shel-b001
Used channel locks with towel trick. Still tore up stock knob... Should of used a strap wrench, of coarse the teeth of the channel locks will penetrate the material until it locks on to something solid . BIKEBOY
I think my strap wrench was a P.O.S. , cuz it didn’t even remotely begin to “grab” the ball.

TEvans
Does the shifter knobs from Ford Performance come with Blue Loctite? Or is it only shifter knobs from Twisted Shifterz?
BIKEBOY
Does the shifter knobs from Ford Performance come with Blue Loctite? Or is it only shifter knobs from Twisted Shifterz? My FRPP shifter assy for my 2012 BOSS came with a white Ford Racing cue ball and NO blue Loctite. I had to go buy a tube.
wrh3
Does the shifter knobs from Ford Performance come with Blue Loctite? Or is it only shifter knobs from Twisted Shifterz? Both come with Blue Loctite, make sure the threads on both the shifter and knob are clean so it will work. I just borrowed one of the rubber jar opener pads from the kitchen, wrapped that around the shift knob a few times, unscrewed it counter clockwise. It takes some effort but no issues once you get a good grip. Bill billswebspace.com

JTVUDOO
Strap wrench is the answer, channel locks will rip your $89 Factory knob. Not worth it.
