Bishop #0447
Alright guys, got a 2007 Shelby GT from auction, guy cut the exhausts in the back. Looking to probably just replace the exhausts since he chopped em off. I looked around a lot on various sites. I have come to realize that you guys would probably have some of the best knowledge with this certain topic. So what are some of your suggestions? ITHERTZ66
I have the axle back exhaust for your car when it was new. I have a set new in Ford Racing box - never installed. These are hard to find - no longer available from Ford, but sound great. I have a pending sale just earlier this morning but if the sale falls through I can let you know if you are interested in these. I had a similar magnaflow exhaust on my Hertz earlier, but the stock exhaust is much better.

EL SHELBY
Mufflers?! We don't need no stink'n mufflers! Let the gasses fly free and unimpeded. Deletes are what you want and drop 40lbs off the tail end. Edited November 14, 2016 by EL SHELBY
Bishop #0447
Thanks for the help! What do you guys think about Pypes Brand
ITHERTZ66
The mufflers in that video are NOT the same as the SGT or Hertz mufflers. SGT and Hertz used the GTA mufflers. Bullitt cars used GTB mufflers. https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-5230-GTA This is the best video out there I could find that demonstrate the GTA mufflers. They are comparing it to the KR mufflers. Of particular note, the GTA mufflers fit MUCH better under the rear valence than the round KR mufflers that hang much lower.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQCqI9-i0mY Edited November 15, 2016 by ITHERTZ66

Yes indeed, they don't "tuck" as nice as others do, up in there.

ITHERTZ66
Hey Larry, That second video was done by a local friend of mine with his Bullitt. Keep in mind his car has other mods such as hot rod cams, headers.... He has tried every Axle-Back under the sun on his car. They all have their compromises. He liked the Borlas, but the drone was unbearable. The exact ones currently installed on my Hertz were also once tried on his car. In the end, he's running his stock GTBs now. I think it's really difficult to improve on the GTB and GTA mufflers for a nice street car. The first video with the red car is also a V6. Here is my own Magnaflow vs GTA video. Keep in mind my car has a Whipple and a different tune than the stock SGT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP3msVx3_po Edited November 15, 2016 by ITHERTZ66
slbgtsc
Search cat back comparison there are plenty of sound clips that can give you some great ideas! Sorry I am having issues or I would drop the thread in for you. http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php/topic/83976-cat-back-comparsion/?p=1661263 Edited November 19, 2016 by slbgtsc
bnoslo
If you like the KR mufflers (M-5230-S), I have a pair of used ones for sale. PM me if you're interested. To me, they sounded awesome on my car when I had it. No drone, reasonably quiet at idle and really wakes up when you get on the gas.
shelbytexan
AGREE. The KR'S have a nice rumble without being anoying. Loud when needed and quite when not.
JeffIsHereToo
The gentleman, I don't have his name handy, who designed the sound of the SGT attended the first Dearborn event back in 2008 and he spoke about the various aspects of performance, sound, fuel, etc., he went to a great deal of effort to find the right balance. KOBRA2848
I put KR's on the wife's Shelby GT and I think they are perfect. I will be removing them in the spring when we sell it and might try them on mine which has the whipple as well as cat delete. With the stock GTAs it's a little raspy without cats and I'm curious what the KR's will sound like. Mark
