When I went to the Bash a few years ago, the host hotel was the South Point. Mid week room rates there get as low as $49.00. Friday night and weekend rates are higher, but not crazy.

....and if you hang out around the slot machines long enough, they'll start offering you drinks. :hysterical:

I am totality in agreement with you,we stayed at South Point at last years Bash and not having been ther before we really didn't know what to expect!

Well honestly we loved the place, pretty sedate compared to the craziness of the main strip hotels, super nice rooms, great pool area, great breakfast buffet prices ($8!) and as stated...... Awesome room rates,a plus on top of the Bash ticket price!

The parkiade was super easy to access and we had a great time with our new found friends boogieing away in the in house nightclub at a great Motown night,$5 to get in+ free drink & slot machine tokens!)

Hi 07gt500conv,

Yes, we had the Bash during NASCAR last year as well. Since we’re on the other side of the city, traffic was not a problem at all. We actually have a partner in the NASCAR series. If people are interested we will see what kind of tie-in’s we can utilize for Team Shelby members.

Tracey

Does anyone realize Nascar weekend in Vegas is the same weekend as the Bash?

What kind of traffic jams and crowds will there be around town?

The Bash "host" hotel last year was the Mandalay Bay but some folks stayed at South Point. As the host hotel, there really was nothing there planned that dictated to stay there. For consideration: There needs to be some activities at the host hotel if a hotel is considered "host" IMO aside from designated parking or the start of the poker run.

Tracey is correct, NASCAR really did not impact traffic at our end of the strip. However, down town was packed, but that's to be expected.

Tracey, if there is a poker run, insure that it is a scenic route. Last year was less than scenic in my opinion.

Who said it will go from Gardena(again......yawn!!!!)

Let's start from somewhere else, last year we drove from Phoenix to Palm Springs which was a 4.5 hour drive so I really think that it is time to go from somewhere closer to the Kingman/williams kinda areas and drive some Route 66 kinda drives.

I know none of this will probably happen as it always seems to be what's best for the California boys and everybody else just has to go along with that!!!!! I don't meant to be taking shots at them but that just seems to be the case!!

When I was in Pocono for SAAC 40, I loved that area, first time I had ever been there. I might just drive out there and start there!

I was just using Gardenia as an example.....I was told that is what has happened in years past.

I would like to know where it starts so I can start making arrangements to ship the car. I dont have enough vacation time to drive out and BACK.

Thanks Tracey, did not know Napcar :hysterical: was on the other side of town. When its here in Daytona, I make a point not to go near Daytona. I live in Orlando.

07gt500cov,please understand the topic we are on is for input on what and where the TS members would like to see happen for next years Bash!!

The date has been set (unless there is a change for some reason) so now Tracey has listened to us and wants ideas and thoughts as to what will happen!

In previous bashes, the 2 nightly events were held at the host hotel, this made things both easy and convenient. I hope we can return to this format. After spending a great portion of the day in the car, driving to and from Spring Mountain, either on the track or doing the poker run, the last thing people want to do is get back into their car to drive to a banquet.

After a long day, people like to get back to the hotel, relax and freshen up before the evening activities. It’s also nice to be able to have drinks and socialize and not have to worry about driving back to the hotel. After the banquet people can continue to hang out or head to the room if tired.

Hopefully The South Point will be the host hotel. It is both reasonably priced and less hectic than other hotels. The previous secure parking arrangements were also a plus.

Like many have said, the best part of these events is hanging out with friends.

The date looks good, I think all the Basketball Conference tourneys will be the week after (I always go to 2-3 of them), so it gives me a good excuse for two events. I usually stay at the Orleans, much cheaper and free parking too, and I love the Cajun food.

All hotels in Las Vegas have free parking and valet. I've been to some shows at the Orleans, but have not tried the food. What is the name of the Cajun place?

I HAVE NEVER been to the BASH as it is on the other side of the country. I am reading all the suggestions to Tracey and like most of them. Just trying to get a feel what to expect if I attend.

After the remarks of supersnake junkie, almost ready to forget about this trip....

This past year, a couple of the Central Florida Chapter members went to the Sturgis Mustang Rally. It was fun but not what I EXPECTED. It was more layed back and I was expecting MUCH more. IT was an expensive trip and we had a good time. Not sure I would go back.

Now, I am (was) planning on attending the bash, but if asking questions about the BASH events and driving to the bash is wrong.....not sure what to expect.

But they don't all have free parking deck parking that is roped off and exclusive for TS bash attendees!

Big Al's Oyster Bar, best this side of N'orleans. And the parking wasn't free at the Venetian or Mandalay Bay last time I stayed at those places, and the valet was outrageously priced.

I've been to every one, and will be back again for #9 (and yes I have the benefit of being in NorCal, so the drive isn't a commitment)

For me, it has a lot to do with seeing friends. Yes, the cars brought us together, but I have so much fun hanging out with everyone. Track or otherwise.

Don't take one persons comments as gospel. I've heard the complaints, and I've heard the raves (from first timers, who absolutely LOVED it).

I'm not sure what I said to upset you????

All my intention was to make sure you understood the thread topic,I read your post and it gave me the impression that you wanted details of next years Bash when very clearly there are no concrete details yet until there are as many suggestions from TS members as possible on what they would like to see happen on it!

Once Tracey has as much input from us then she will discuss event choices with the regional directors and put together the exact plan and then inform everyone here as to the exact schedule.

That was my only intention in my first reply to you as it seemed that you wanted details that weren't yet there,no offence was intended !!!!!

Understood Sir....

I was not looking for concrete plans...I was just trying to get an idea of where it has started in Cali. Want to talk to some transport companies to get a ballpark of cost to ship the car.

I have been to literally every casino/hotel in the Las Vegas area and have never paid for parking (other than valet) at any of the facilities. They all have huge self-park garages. And even at the busy Barrett Jackson the Mandalay Bay 4th and top floors were almost deserted. The Mandalay Bay does have the area where the cars were sort of away from the rest of the garage area. It was the same area that the Ford GT rally used earlier that year.

I totally get where you are coming from!!!

Usually it takes until January sometimes to get exact dates and details, although I think Tracey is trying to get it all out there earlier as so many people like yourself have to get vacations booked etc.

Based on some suggestions, many of us would love to have the Shelby Run start from another location for a change, the majority of Runs have been from Gardena and a couple from Palm Springs.

It has been suggested places in Arizona such as Wickensberg,Williams or we could even start from Phoenix!!!!!

(Barrett Jacksons location in Scottsdale would be great)

Anyway, you would definitely enjoy the Bash as there are great people to meet and many great friendships to make!!!

As a first order approximation you can get close at $1/mile for a major covered carrier (Intercity, Reliable, etc.) You have to be really careful with scheduling though. With all the auctions now (Mecum seems to have one a week) most carriers are changing their routes and regions to service those and so you'll find if an auction is in Chicago, getting a East coast to West coast transfer could take months to schedule. Plan way ahead!

Well then, I am not sure what that $10/day charge was that was listed as "Site Parking Fee", I was not doing valet, maybe they just screwed me, not unusual for 'Vegas, BTW.

Ah, that is a charge on your room. There may also be things like "Resort Fees" where your free wifi and parking are recapped. That kind of stuff started about the same time airlines started charging for luggage separately. Then people started carrying on instead of checking and they started charging for access to the overhead bins. All ways to raise prices by charging for ancillary things instead of just raising rates of the ticket (room).

That said, there is no charge to enter or exit any of the hotels in Vegas I've ever been at.

So should I just park and then check in later, so they don't know I am staying there AND parking my car? Sounds like a good way to save money alright. I will remember that.

Thanks for the info, never thought about the auctions.

Thats one reason for asking all the questions of a starting point.

You all are correct. In the past it was very late when the information was made available. But we are doing our best this time around, to get the information out as soon as possible, allowing for people to make their vacation plans and other such plans so they can make it to the Bash.

Maverick,

Just want to say thanks NOW for helping to plan and organize the Bash.

I dont have problem with getting the time off, its the planning as you know that takes time.

I do have a suggestion for the Bash events, i.e. poker run, fun day cruising and general site seeing.

Print the address to the places (on the back cover or maybe a separate sheet of paper) that everyone is going to see. The reason I say this, when we were in Sturgis for their recent event, many stops were listed to "go see". Most people drove straight there. People like me that have never been to these "stops" were lost and did not make some of the sites.

With a list of the addresses, we could plug into the GPS...

Hopefully we will have lots of options available aside from the Tracking, lots of us just want to go on runs and cruises to drive to the many places of interest in and around Vegas!

I have previously suggested cruises to the valley of fire, Hoover dam,Kingman and some of the old Route 66,visits to one of the Rims of the Grand Canyon etc

This is why it is so important for all of us TS members give Tracey input on things for us to do besides the Track!!!
