earlk1744
I need to replace the axle shafts on my 1970 Fastback with a 8" rear end. One sheared off while driving (yes, it was traumatic and painful to the left rear quarter panel). In the research I have found, it seems both 8" and 9" rear ends use the same shafts. I know mine is a 28 spline. Anyone out there have some info to share? Sources for axle shafts? Thanks to All.
Kevin Patten
Check with Tom Cruz at Delta Bay Mustangs in Brentwood, California. He has new and used ones in stock. HTH
vapor08GT500
All 8" rears are 28 spline. Moser and Stange both make nice hardened replacements that will handle 500+ HP. The 8" is a great rear, for 550 HP and less when built and more efficient than the 9", meaning more RWHP by 3%. Alex
Denstang65
That's good to know Alex. I often thought about changing out my 8" for a 9", but now it sounds better to keep it. If I ever get to build race engine for my car, I will shoot for a 400hp-500hp range. Whats better for a track car, posi or limited slip? 07gt500conv
I have stock 9" 28 spline axles out of my 77 bronco rear I would give you but probably too much to ship to the left coast.
