mfield2a
I’m looking to get a bit more sound out of the SGT drop top With no emissions, the low mileage I put on in a year and no concerns with being too loud why not loose the cats? Since I like the raspy sound of an x-pipe, I’m thinking of bassani off road paired with the GTA’s. If that still isn’t all the way there adding FR500S axle backs. I’m not looking to go the long tube route. What I don’t want want is done. I have been in a SGT vert with SLP loudmouths and the sound outside was super, but the done inside the car was....let’s just say it’s something I’ll never forget.? Just wondering what others have tried and like. Edited March 9, 2018 by mfield2a
Al & Cyndi Haas
I would try the FR500S mufflers first. Then you don't have to deal with horrid smell of not having cats on the car,the check engine light etc... The FR500S mufflers are pretty quiet when you are just cruising down the road ,but they have some bark when you put your foot it it. I also have a vert and although it is a GT500 the FR500S muffs do fine cruising with the top down.
KOBRA2848
My 2008 Shelby GT has an off road pipe from Buschur Racing. It sounds perfect to me. I have a set of KR mufflers that I took off my wife's Shelby GT but have not had a chance to put them on so I can't comment on that. My car does have a whipple on it. mfield2a
Left turn Clyde...or so it may seem. I picked up a set of Borla ATAK. I’ll do a before and after vid in another post. I was always torn between the m-5230-s and the ATAK, and found a deal too good for me to pass up in the latter.
slbgtsc
I've run the FR500S, ATAK and I currently run the Bassani's. I've got long tubes and I run it with and without cats. The FR500's are nice but they crackle a lot and for me I didn't like the tips (3.5") compared to the 4" tips of the other offerings. The ATAK's are fantastic sounding with cats, but without cats they were a little over the top for me. I finally settled on the Bassani's as they have a nice deep tone and the newer models have a nice 4" tip that is similar to the GTA's. None of these setups drone. Here are some videos all with catted x pipe. Robert Wolf
I am running long tube headers, off road x pipe (no cats) and Borla stingers. It does have some droan but with the Hot Rod Cam, it sounds angry and ready for fun. It will wake up the neighbors!
