09KR0058
Took the KR to lunch today, about a 20 minute ride from home. While eating, the alarm system went off. Wasn't really paying any attention to it, as I didn't think it was my car and didn't see anyone anywhere near it. Once someone asked who's car that was, I realized it was mine. Pulled the keys from my pocket and hit the alarm button and it stopped. I just assumed something in my pocket hit the alarm button. A few minutes later, the same guy said that my lights were flashing. I then went outside behind the car and hit the unlock and lock buttons. The flashing stopped. After eating, I cranked the car up and was greeted with this: Have any of you KR or 2008-2009 GT500 owners seen this before? Any ideas what happened here? Thanks
SAI-Steven
That message is just letting you know that your alarm was triggered while you were away from your car. The question is what triggered the alarm? Were your windows open? Steve
09KR0058
Yes, the windows were down about 1/3 from the top. How would that cause/contribute to the alarm? I do that often when its a hot day and I'll be able to keep an eye on the car. This is the first time I've had this issue.
twobjshelbys
If your windows were down then someone walking by could have set it off. I was at a car show my SGT and the top was down and out of habit I hit the lock button on the key fob. Someone walked by it close but not otherwise getting in it and the alarm went off. Sherri Leicht
Or someone could have stuck their arm thru the window and set off the alarm Edited August 29, 2016 by msmap
Secondo
The car has a motion detector by the map lights. If someone walked by with your windows open even slightly, it may have set off the alarm. It is all explained in the owners manual.
AKSHELBY
yes i had the same problem, i left the windows down and people walking by set off the motion sensor...
mhr1961
If windows are down or partially down a bird flying by or over the car can set the alarm off too. When I lived in Florida I also had an "event" when I parked my car out front of my garage one evening and had the convertible top down.....a tree frog had jumped on the driver side head rest and it set the alarm off. shelbypt
I was looking at a GT500 SS at a cruise in and when I pointed at the gauge pod inside it set off the Alarm.
tomshep
I never leave my windows cracked. I am in an area where car theft is always a concern. With windows cracked, they hit the door unlock and they are in your car. Maybe to steal or pilfer, both bad. Tom
ShelbyKR664
I had my car on my trailer and locked the doors. As soon as I pulled way, the alarm went off. I never did see your message you are referring to though.
