cormy Posted January 16, 2015 Report Share Posted January 16, 2015 Still trying to cheaply have my CD player work after it went south after the battery died over the last winter. I bought I installed a working Shaker 500 and it worked fine. Wanted to impress my teen daughter, I decided to reinstall the subwoofer in the trunk, didn't work with the 500 deck. So then had the idea to swap the working CD unit from the 500 into the non working of the 1000. Great idea..! So after taking both of the units apart and swaping the working CD mech into the non working 1000 deck, I installed back into vehicle.. Guess what...? CD ERROR is displayed (on the currently working unit) !! Question: Are the CD units different between a 500 and 1000? I would think they would be completely interchangeable.
