Norton
According to Michelin, the maximum width MPSS recommended for our 9.5" OEM rims is 285. With that in mind, I went with stock sizes when I upgraded to MPSS. Others report no problems upsizing to 275s in the front and 295s in the rear. All of that said, I think it comes down to personal preference tempered by how much stock you put in Michelin's recommendations.
1TUF14SHELBY
I put stock size on front and bumped up to 295's rear. The stock size front MPSS's actually are slightly narrower than the GY's and the 295's look great on the rear with the additional width. BUT do 295's hook any better than the 285's? I have no idea as you can still smoke em pretty easily but again they absolutely look like the right size tire on the car. The 265 fronts look fairly skinny up there and it gives it a more staggered look. Lots of owners have bumped to 275's and been very happy plus report a little add front clearance if the use the splitter. I don't bang any corners on public roads and won't be taking it to the track so the 265 front, 295 rear suits me well.
mullens
I'm running 295's and yes with this amount of torque you can smoke any tire but they are much more predictable than the gy's. Best investment yet.
TRTGT500
Belle Tire told me to use the stock size 285s in the rear.....I told him the 295s would work just fine and he was not in agreement. Its my money though and I want a bigger look for the rears. Is the 295 slightly taller too? Any pictures would be great, thanks!

I have not seen any reports of problems with 295s on the 9.5" stock wheel, but if I were a tire dealer I would I would not mount ANY tire on ANY wheel against the tire manufacturer's recommendations. If any problems at all come up later, it'll be the dealer in the hot seat. I once had an insurance investigator come to my shop about a car that had caught fire on the freeway, someone got burned pretty badly. The car had not been in my shop for five years, and we had never done any repairs related to the fire, but he was sure looking hard for something to hang on me. SVTracer14
Go with the 295 width in the 105Y tire with the "K1" Pt number, which is for the Ferrari. The N0 Porsche is more narrow.
TRTGT500
Talked with Discount Tire today, $1500 total for all tires and mounting plus lifetime checkups what ever that means. Going with 265 fronts and 295s for rears. Excited to get them! Will post pictures next week

blk12svt
Here is why I am shopping for wheels. I ordered 295 MPSS and while on order learned they run big. Boy... do they!!! These things are like ever other manufacturers 305's. Had I known they ran so big I would have just went with 285's but I got them, don't want to mess with taking them back and kind of want some aftermarket wheels anyway to keep my originals nice. I just know one thing.. I wouldn't put these 12.375" monsters on 9.5" rims.
ThomasL
My 295s looked way to big before i got em mounted too. They fit just fine. I actually get compliments on them all the time which is funny. I have 275 up front as well.
11ShelbyGT500
Please post some pictures of either the 285, 295 & 305 installed on your car in the rear and 265 & 275 installed on the front. I would like to see if any of them, changes the look of the car. Thanks

Looks like those 295's fit fine in back. I had about settled on some Forgestar wheels, but now there is the thread on the other forum where everyone is displeased with their finish in this recent batch. The Chinese don't care what they look like when they throw them in the box and I would bet every brand that's made in China all come from the same factory. What a hassle this has become unless you want to spend a grand on one wheel... I am still having a hard time getting cozy with putting 12.375" wide tires on 9.5 rims though... Did your tread look flat across the mounted tire prior to putting them on the car and applying the weight. Just hard to figure where that 2.875" of extra rubber goes comparing the wheel width to tire section width.

WJinLV
First 2 pic: front 275 MPSS Last 2 pics: rear 285 MPSS. Would have gone with 295, but couldnt find them at the time. The 285 look too small to me.
blk12svt
the 12.3x" is at the tread, and not where the tire meets the rim at the I.D. I agree but I squeezed the inner and outer bead together by hand as far as I could and it still measured 10.5... My statement was meant to question where the bulge goes given there is a 2.875" difference in section width versus rim width.

Either way, I've seen the tires in person on the stock wheels, and from what I could tell, there was very little -to- no tire buldge. I personally think they are safe to run on the stock wheels, and I know there are many people on here and svtperformance who are running them with no ill effects. FYI- The stock GT500 rims will measure 10.5" across, but are 9.5" rims. The 1" I believe is due to the bead along the edge of the rim to keep them from spinning inside of a tire. Thanks for your input. I know there are many doing it... I guess I need to just go have one of my 295's mounted, see what it looks like and try and convince myself it's okay. They aren't doing me any good laying there in the garage while I vacillate over aftermarket wheels.
ThomasL
Stock wheels with MPSS 275 up front and 295 in rear. First two pics are newer (car lowered) and last two are older (stock height). blk12svt
Thomas, Thanks for posting those pics. Best ones I've seen yet that shows things from the proper angle. If so, how did you do? What was the 60' like?
betashave
Discount Tire had an up to $150 rebate this weekend, so I decided it was time to replace my Goodyears with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Got the order placed yesterday. I wound up ordering: Fronts: 275/40ZR19XL 105Y Rears: 295/35ZR20 101Y I was debating whether to go stock size or wider up until time of purchase. The guy at Discount was really cool to work with and looked up the wider tires in their computer, and assured me the wider tires would fit fine on the SVTPP rims on my car. There was some confusion that led to me getting the K1 (Ferrari) 101Y instead of the K1 105Y tire on the rear, and I think I read that the 101Y has 11.6" tread width vs. 12" on the 105Y. But I think it will be fine and still better than the Goodyears. Plus, I wound up getting them price matched to the N0 (Porsche) 105Y tire ($362 vs $389), so that didn't suck. Does anyone think I will regret going with the 101Y? I will post up what I think of them once I get them installed (should be by next weekend). betashave
Just curious but why do fronts and back when traction issues are backFor me it was because I heard the Michelins run narrow in the 265 tire, and I thought I would prefer the look of going wider on both fronts and rears. That and the fact that the 275's were $38 cheaper for each tire than the 265's at Discount.
tomshep
Just curious but why do fronts and back when traction issues are back Most people want the same brand of tire all the way around. The tread pattern of the GY and MPSS are very different. Reports are they are also much quieter and smoother riding than the GY. Tom

doctorjay
Beta - i have exactly the same setup on my 2013. 275's in the front and 295's in the rear. 101Y in the front and 105Y in the rear. Until i read this thread i didn't even know there where 2 different MPSS versions. That is just what i got when i ordered them from Discount Tire. Had them on since Spring, about 2000 miles, and could not be happier with the look, the improved traction, the quieter ride, and the reduction in little stones i pick up (my driveway is caliche). I am getting excited about these tires. Incidentally, mine would be the reverse of yours, such that the 101Y would be in the rear, and the 105Y would be in the front. However, Tom's post got me thinking more about it, so I called my sales guy at Discount Tire this morning to see if it's possible to change my order to get the 105Y FER tires for the rear. After some checking, he came back and said that this was no problem, so he went ahead and ordered those as well. He said when they get in, I can decide which ones I want back there, and if I want the 105Y FER's, I would just have to pay the difference of $60+. So, my set up will now be: Fronts: 275/40ZR19XL 105Y Rears: 295/35ZR20XL 105Y (FER) My sales guy was curious as to why I was wanting the change. I told him that 1) I felt better about having the same load rating on all four tires (105Y), and 2) I had read that the tread was slightly wider (about a half inch) on the 105Y FER than the 101Y. He didn't believe me on this latter point, so it will be interesting to see if I get the chance to compare them side by side when the tires get in.
