Something In The Driver's Door Is Scratching The Door Glass When It's Rolled Up And Down.

I noticed a vertical scratch developing on the outside of my driver's door glass. Apparently something inside the door is scratching the glass when the glass is rolled up and down. The scratch is pretty subtle right now, but it will undoubtedly get worse. I'll have to have the dealer look at it. Anyone else seen this issue?

Have you checked the window seal for a piece of sand or dirt that could be causing this?

That's a good suggestion, it could possibly explain it. I checked it now and I carefully ran a thin screwdriver between the glass and the felt seal along the entire length of the seal to dislodge anything that might be stuck in there. Nothing obvious was in there, but there may have been something at some point. I'll keep an eye on it.

No problem here, but I'm curious to hear if/when you track down the source of the scratching.

If you have window tint the door felt causes that condition.

If you were to remove the door panel, there are a couple of "guides" bolted to the door along the top edge.

These have felt on them and help to guide the window up and down in the proper position.

You could have a small piece of grit or something trapped there as well.
