Hey guys and gals,

Thought I would introduce myself. Names Brandon and I just purchased a Shelby GT about a month ago with only 13xxx miles on the clock. This is my first Shelby but ive owned numerous other mustangs and a few Camaros. I would be very much interested in a few cruises/ meet up's if anyone is close to me. I live in San Diego and am active duty Military (Navy). I look forward to joining the gang on here also. I'll post a few more pictures eventually once I get back to SD from my vacation (having withdraws from my car which is in storage).

Thanks guys. I can't wait to post up more pictures. probably wait till I get my Christmas goodies installed (Shelby redline hood struts, CS faux gas cap emblem and "Shelby GT" engine caps 3 out 5 of caps. looking to buy the rest). Very excited to finally own a Shelby registered car.

looking to start small on this car with cosmetics. As of right now I don't want to deviate from what Carroll's team has created other than maybe some clear corner lights, some tasteful billet interior and engine bay dress-up and a set of staggered wheels. I realize it isn't a GT500 so I guess im going to aim it towards show for now.

Welcome Brandon,

Welcome to TS! And congrats on the SGT #5111

Not sure of the cruise/car happenings down there, but I'm sure a local will chime in.

Great area you're in, our daughter attends USD, so we get down there somewhat often.

Cheers,

Tom

Welcome! Congrats to owning that beautiful GT. If I were able to buy a Shelby, it would be that color and year. I am sure some one will chime in down there! The one thing you will find out about TS, is that their are nice people though out TS. We treat each other like we are family. Any questions you have, we are all here to help out.

Brandon,

Welcome and thanks for your service! There are quite a few TS members in the San Diego county area. As for meet-ups, every Saturday morning there's a Cars and Coffee in Carlsbad. You mentioned you went to JBA, well they have a pretty nice gathering once or twice a month (I don't recall exactly) on Sunday morning; just check their web site.

And don't sell your SGT short because it's not a GT500. They're different cars, both great in their own right. If you ever get rid of your SGT, you will regret it, no matter how much you enjoy your next Shelby...just sayin'.

Anyway, enjoy your car and welcome aboard,

John

Thanks John,

I suppose you are correct. These cars really are dialed in where the GT500 was not. I.E. Suspension and handling. Don't get me wrong I love the car and don't see myself letting go of this one anytime soon. unless I want a GT350 down the road ;)

Cheers

BTW- do you go to those events at JBA? if so let me know. I would really like to see a GT350 in person and chat with you about the SGT sometime.

  • 2 weeks later...

I may be returning to the PCR in the fall, all hinging on me being able to lock in CA "residency" for grad school.

Right now I am looking at San Diego State or CSU-Sacramento, Masters in Public Administration. I am hoping some of my TS friends could share some suggestions/comments on each of those areas.

For context, I am a single, soon to be 35 yr old, former military, Shelby owner, with a '13 GT500. I will be dropping off the GT500 after the Bash/50th to get the SS upgrade. It should be ready for the fall semester start. Important deciding factors for me include, but are not limited to:

-perfect weather/terrain to enjoy my new SS

-cost of living (rent/fuel/alcohol)

-proximity to track and/or TS events

-density of single, childless, disease-free ladies

Would love to hear your thoughts.....

Austin,

On the other hand, in Sacto, you're closer to the Sierra's, Tahoe ("Snakes at the Lake"), the Gold Country foothills, the Delta, the Napa Valley, Yosemite, Reno casinos, Laguna Seca, Sonoma and Thunderhill Raceways and plenty of NorCal TS-PCR events.

All very valid points. I guess if I was in NorCal I could join in on the all the events you have been putting together, maybe even help out. Its been making me sick, seeing all the photos from all your events. I sure do miss all the cruises out there.

Almost verbatim what I PM'd him last week...great minds think alike

Also, I'd expect the cost of living (housing) to be less in the Sacto area than SD.
