Will Carlisle 2014 have Team Shelby support?

Recommended Posts

I received an email from Carlisle a few weeks ago asking me to register early for the 2014 All Ford Weekend in June. The was no Team Shelby section in the registry area. I attended the 50th Aniversary Bash a few years ago and had a great time. I wanted to secure my spot for the parade lap through town and be with a group of cars and people like myself. -Kevin

If TS will be there, I would imagine they will have a special thread here / emails / website, etc. for signing up as they did in the past.

I'm sure we will do something, but it would not surprise me if it was a little 'lower key' than our last few years at Carlisle. Please keep in mind that lasy year's Carlisle was part of the First Annual Shelby Grand National event (which was a huge undertaking), and the year prior to that it was part of the Shelby 50th Anniversary Tour Celebration, and three years ago Shelby was a featured marque, and we had the indoor KR Display.

We have set the bar very high for ourselves based on the past three years. We will have to wait and see what 2014 brings.

Greetings from the South region! I was talking to my dad about the Ford nationals at Carlisle this year (he's in Ohio, I'm in Florida) and he mentioned he may take his KR this year if Shelby was going to have a presence. I thought this would be a great opportunity to surprise him by bringing my KR up from Florida for the event as well. We havent been able to get our "twin KRs" together and I think it would be very special to surprise him there. Has anything developed?

I don't know about team Shelby showing up but Carlisle is a good place to see your fellow KR owners. It is just about the only car show I have gone to that has KRs.

2011 had 20 or so.

2012 had around 15.

2013 probably had 9 or 10.

I preregistered for the show field in December when they had the holiday sale. I also purchased the main street cruise while I was there. The Carlise site does allow you to associate yourself with Team Shelby Northeast. My wife and I went to the Shelby 50th Anniversary and had a great time. Looking forward to a sunny June. - Kevin

I just joined the Team Shelby Northeast Chapter. I registered for the Ford Nationals and figured I'll show my car - 2014 Shelby GT500 Convertible. Looking forward to it.

WELCOME TO TSNE!!!

There are a lot of helpful and active members in the Northeast region. Looking forward to meeting you at an event in the future.

ps - post a couple pics of the car :camera:

EDIT: Your car looks great! Really like the red accents on the interior and the Recaro seats.

I would've done Carlisle if Team Shelby were going to be there. Since nothing has been announced, I am going to Watkins Glen instead for the IMSA races in June.

Team Shelby is listed as one of the groups displaying at Carlisle in June. How good it is going to be, is probably up to TS members, and how many people we can get to show up. I have signed up to be on the show field, hope I won't be one of two or three, but I'm sure we'll have a good time anyway.

I certainly hope a number of you from the Northeast Region show up at Carlisle. I just joined the NE Region and I was hoping with the 50th anniversary of the Mustang there would be good representation. I have signed up for the Ford Parade as well as the Showfield. I hope to meet some members while at this event.

Seriously thinking about bringing my KR. I brought my 66 Fastback last year. Just have to work on clearing the schedule. I checked on hotels and most of the good ones are taken. I noticed the Radison is still available . I stayed there for the 50th. Is there an official TS hotel?

I don’t think TS is doing anything this year.

I had a lot of fun last year. It is unfortunate that they are apparently not doing anything this year. I sent the powers that be at TS Northeast a few emails at the end of June and the begining of July last year. There is a Casino that is 5 to 10 miles away from the summit point racetrack. I was talking to a couple of the higher ups at the Casino a few days after the grand nationals last year. They were really interested in having TS use their facilities this year. At the time they were offering a ton of stuff like hotel discounts banquet discounts and even a car show. They were talking about hosting a car show on the infield of their racehorse track.

I never got a response to any of my emails. I think it would have been pretty cool. Race during the day and hit the Casino at night. It would be like an east coast Shelby bash and all the Shelby Mustangs parked on the infield of the track would have made a great picture too.

I don’t know if I am going to Carlisle this year. I have the days off but have not bought a ticket yet. I may just drive there for a day thing.

Yep, looks like it is pretty much a show and shine. Tough for me to justify spending a couple hundred bucks on hotel, fuel, food. I am signed up for the Smithfield VA show in 2 weeks. I may just wait for Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach in July. I like your idea about Summit Pt. That would be great for a fall meet & greet, track time, car show, gamble. Kinda of a East Coast Bash if you will. Any event I hope we get to meet up in the near future.

I am really disappointed that Team Shelby Northeast isn't organizing anything for Carlisle. Have been there the last few years and had a great time. I will be going there this year but, won't be bringing any of my mustangs. Instead our "29" Model A is being displayed in the 110 years of Ford display. Should be a good time as Carlisle and Ford are providing perks for those people with cars on display. The activities provided by participating associations or clubs are a big part of what makes the event special and fun. Looks like we will be doing things with some other Mustang clubs we belong to. Shelby, in general seems to ignore the Northeast. We instead are doing some things with the Saleen Club. Saleen is finally starting to take notice of the following and market that exists here. Everyone isn't in Vegas or, the West Coast!

This will be my 15th Carlisle All-Ford Nationals in a row and 4th with a Shelby. Whether there's TS support of not, it will be another great show as it gets bigger every year. My former 2011 Shelby GT-500 was on the Carlisle All-Ford poster in 2012. I'll be there.

I'll be there this year. They put me in the 50th Anniversary line up in the show field tent. I look forward to seeing everyone there.
