I was able to get a complete set plus one extra spare. Just couldn't pass up the price and the opportunity.

Yeah, really!

If I didn't have a set already I definitely would'a bought a set. If for no other reason, (A: To HAVE, and B:) to put into storage and either use or sell them later on.

I like my 18's for the extra sidewall. More sidewall is better for drag racing, Drag Radials or Slicks. Although, technology is coming along so you can get a pretty decent bite with a 19" dia. and/or maybe (I really can't remember) for a 20" dia. wheel/tire.

I have a set of 15's but you have to mickey mouse the rear axle/swaybar to get them to work, which I wish I'd a known before I bought them!

Since the KR will be given to my son who is four now, I have been putting extra KR stuff away for him so he had access to OEM parts 15-20 years from now. Space is no longer an issue as everything is stored away in his own climate controlled storage unit.

As for drag racing, this kid better not ever dream of drag racing this KR.

My 9 KR Wheels arrived today from buyfordracing.com

One is damaged. :banghead:

The 8 wheels came in 4 big boxs. 2 wheels in each box. My 9th wheel was in a single smaller box.

The UPS driver put the boxs in front of my garage.

Note the damage to the boxs.

This is the first box I opened.

This wheel is laying upside down in the big box on top of another rim that is in a Ford Racing box.

Here you can see the Ford Racing box that the wheel was laying on top of. The wheel was laying on a piece of cardboard and bubble wrap and the cardboard had it's corners turned up to protect the edges.

Here you can see how the cardboard protector did not do it's job and has a hole rubbed in it from the long ride in a truck from MI to WA.

Since the upper wheel in the box was not "Double Boxed".....it moved around all over the place during transport across the United States.

There are no more wheels left so a exchange is not possible is what I am told. I could get my money back for this rim but Instead I am going to contact a wheel repair specialist to see what can be done to fix it.

nice, cant wait to get mine. too bad one has been whacked.

Hopefully they double box all yours. If not the top wheel in the box needs to be looked at very closely.

As you can see 5 of mine were double boxed. The other 4 were allowed to float around in a bigger box. I'm just lucky all 4 of the floaters are not dented up.

That is horrible! I had one arrive damaged. That one was returned and I have one inbound as a replacement.

Buyfordracing told me that "no replacement is available at this time" and to contact UPS to return the wheel.

Sucks. I talked to them about the damaged wheels being sent from that other vendor and I was assured that my wheels would be double boxed and plenty of bubble wrap used. I felt good that I was told that. Then when I saw the boxs on my drive way with holes in the boxs and I could see the dura brite wheels thru the holes......I knew I had a problem.

I really dislike receiving (or shipping) anything with UPS. I've received many damaged items over the years, but know to pack as if I expect them to throw everything they get. FedEx has done much better for me. Anyway, mine are supposed to be here tomorrow... I hope I receive a decent set, or they're all going right back for a refund.

We have a wheel repair in Michigan called "Alloy Wheel Repair " they are Nationwide. They did a beautiful job of repairing a damaged GT500 Split spoke wheel for me. Could never tell it had been damaged and it was much worse damage then your Alcoa. I am wondering if a tire would hide that damage.

A tire will not hide 100% of that big nick and the bulge. I have a Alloy Wheel Repair local contact here in my town. I have a call into him to see if he can work his magic on this wheel. I will let you know if he can fix it.

Agreed that UPS is rough on stuff....But  all the vender had to do is double box the stuff like he told me they were going to do. Heck the boxs are all different heights which allowed the wheels to float around.

I need to stop posting about this because it is just pissing me off. :rant2:

Good night. :goodnight:

Damn Grabber - I don't like what I'm seeing - I got my set today - UPS did their usual " Toss it like a hockey puck " with the boxes - but I don't see any break through s on the boxes . I was going to wait until tomorrow to open them but now - if I don't I probably won't be able to sleep until I do .

Odd, I had the exact size and type of damage on 1 of my wheels. My outer boxes were fine though. I even helped the UPS man unload the wheels. The wheel was already damaged I feel. Yeoman's is working on getting me a replacement. UPS is picking up my damaged one.

Hopefully my replacement wheel will be perfect.

Wow, It appears that every set of KR wheels has its own story. What I find odd is that some new wheels have valve stems and center caps installed. My wheels arrived from Yeoman's in brand new undamaged condition with no valve stems and the 4 center caps were packaged separately.

To bad about the damaged wheel Rob. At least you have 8 good ones.

Rob, I've purchased a few sets of wheels from Mike. Some of the boxes were damaged in the same spot as yours appear to be. I got lucky though as none of the damaged packaging transferred into a damaged wheel. Imagine what kind of handling it would take to get a hole on the side of the box. Was it thrown? Did it fall off of a shelf onto a sharp or blunt object? Because it certainly didn't happen from simply riding the conveyor at UPS or being gently placed in a safe position while being transported. I've watched the UPS drivers as they load/unload their trucks and it can get very rough, especially around a holiday such as Labor day. They are in a hurry to get the hell out of there.

I recently purchased an ~80 mile 2013 GT500 take-out TR6060. Shipped via UPS from Texas. Here it is (wasn't shipped with the shifter or crossmember in place)

Somebody either dropped it or stood it up and let it fall over - multiple times. The bell housing was gouged up pretty good on one corner and it was exposed through the boxes. The fixed flange at the driveshaft end took a pretty good whack as well.

IMG_1248z_zps79b09869.jpg

The flange is now garbage. The bellhousing can be dressed up. Was I upset? Yeah, kind of. Luckily, I have another flange. I suppose you got lucky 8 out of 9 times with your wheels - not a bad ratio. As Mike suggested, I'd make a stink at UPS. Somewhere in the process, some of their drivers don't give a crap. They need to address this.

It is curious that some wheels had valve stems and instead of bubble wrap in my boxes they had a cloth fiber material on the face of mine. These wheels look so much like jewelry I think I will mount the tires and leave them in the shed for car shows.

My 11 inch OEM style rims with the 315 tires on them are so awesome for fast launches I will be leaving them on for those special occasions.

I too purchased two sets of the GT500KR wheels. One set from Yeomans and one set from emustangparts. The Yeomans set arrived with one damaged wheel (see pics) and the emustangparts set arrived in perfect condition. The damaged wheel appears to have been damaged in shipment. I called Darin at Yeomans and he contacted UPS and they issued a damage call tag. UPS picked the damaged wheel up and as soon as Darin (Yeomans) saw that the damaged wheel was in the UPS system. He initiated shipment of a replacement wheel. He also personally oversaw the packing of the replacement wheel. It arrived yesterday in perfect condition. I have nothing but positive things to say about the response at Yeomans. Was it frustrating? Yes. But the old adage that you can catch more with honey than vinegar worked in this case.

No, Tob, the wheels should've been packaged as promised. And perhaps a few held back unsold to replace damaged returns.

I can't comment on the discussion Rob said he had with BFR - I wasn't there.

Nor can I with respect to how someone should run their business in anticipation of UPS failures.

I have started a claim with UPS.

No wheel replacement has been offered to me. I have been told "not available" .

UPS asked me if the wheel can be repaired and I said "I think so" They want a estimate. I will get that soon. Maybe tonight. The wheel guy lives by me.

UPS is sending someone to my house next week to look at the damage.

Again....5 of my wheels were double boxed. 4 of them were not. What I have not told you is that the other 3 wheels that were not double boxed have imperfections and a couple nicks on the edges of the wheel too, but those will hide when the rubber is mounted.

I TRULEY BELIEVE THIS WOULD OF ALL BEEN PREVENTED IF MY WHEELS WERE DOUBLE BOXED.
