frank bullitt
I get that there are those who covet the exclusive KR parts but don't want to pony up the price of admission. I don't understand the argument about parts being offered once so KR owners shouldn't complain now. They were never offered with the caveat that they would be sold to the general public - if they were not bought out immediately by the KR owners. To me that changes everything. Why would anyone rush to buy something they were lead to believe was a restricted part? I wouldn't have guessed that there were 100 sets of extra wheels to be had, let alone still more kicking around at Shelby. Why did they make so many in the first place? They knew how many cars they were building....... I'm under the impression that if I want to order a set of KR wheels for my KR - from Shelby, they will cost more than what this recent batch sold for to the general public.....am I right? Because that is simply wrong if that is the case. There are only two sides of the coin. The group who benefits from the sale of these parts, and the group who doesn't. I think it's clear where everyone stands and why they think the way that they do. The elephant in the room is the hood now, I suppose. If we shouldn't talk about the wheels, because what is done is done, and SAI doesn't appear to want to get into it, than let's talk about the future. Who owns the hoods? Ford or Shelby? 50/50 like the wheels? Will SAI confirm or deny an impending hood dump onto the open market with or without Ford's involvement. JDB
Shelby was asking $599- per wheel, for the black powder-caoted ones, two years ago. Great idea. Let's take $1500 rims + tires that aren't moving, remove the tires, powder coat the rims black, then sell them for $2,400.00/set. Another example of SAI out of touch with their customers. Look at the thread. Non-KR owners were asking for these wheels without the GT500KR engraved in them. The thread (and sales) died with the comments about pricing. People can only stomach so much. JDB
Part of the original 400 units. Mike is just holding back to support a price increase. Same "limited" tactics that Shelby uses. Margin now up to 200%...and climbing.

Frank, I can't believe you have gone "Kay Are" on the lowly GT500 owners. I remember not long ago, before you became a equal but more equal than others member, you were trying to source every "Kay Are" part you could get your hands on. Hood, hood pins, exhaust, mufflers and the list goes on. Now my friend you are a member of the "Kay Are" crowd and we can only wander what you think of us lowly GT500 owners. Frank have some compassion, Ford gave us the "Kay Are" wheels, suspension, CAI, shifter, shock tower brace, and mufflers. All we want now is the hood. You have been there, you know what it is like. PS. You didn't vote for that Obama crowd didn't you? Wait! you are Canadian. Forget what I said about Obama. We still want the "Kay Are" hoods and hood pins though. Please put a word in for us lowly GT500 owners with your "Kay Are" brethren, we would like the hoods next. Ok?

07SGT2899
I understand some of you guys with KR's being upset about the wheels but if you stand back and look at it, do you really think that 100 sets of wheels out in the "GP" is really going to affect the exclusivity or "coolness" of your KR? some folks will have just the wheels, you have the whole dam REAL car! plus look at it like this, when someone posts a pic of their GT or whatever with KR wheels on it, it will give you something/someone to bust balls on! lets face it, you can't really expect ANYONE, EVER to keep a promise, even SAI, in regards to keeping things "exclusive" it was simply a business move, smart or not, and to quote the godfather, you are taking it very personal

frank bullitt
JDB Don't you just feel like that group in World War Z with Brad Pitt leading the way? Us KR owners have had our city walls breeched by a bunch of wheel grabbing Shelby Zombies climbing over each other .......and they are coming for our hoods ...... next. They can smell them. We are mod crazed but we are not zombies. We just want the unobtanium hoods and pins. Make it easy for us lowly over powered GT500 owners, just put the hoods and pins on a site where we can get to them. You can keep that metal plate thingy under the hood as we won't need that unless there is some hidden diabolical horsepower associated with it. If that's the case then we would like some of those too. I am asking you because it has been rumored on this very site that the "Kay Are" owners should/do have complete access and influence to/over SAI's business decisions and practices. The hoods are being shipped in Brinks' trucks under Las Vegas PD escort from old Shelby headquarters to the new Shelby headquarters very soon. Since you're retired USAF - you might need to call in a few favors in the sky - ground attack is just not a good option. And you're going to have to act fast because once those trucks hit the bridge over the river......... well lets just say the "Kay Are" owners will take every opportunity to remove the excess hoods from inventory. Kevin Patten
Frank, That's way to obvious - we GT500 owners know better than that . Our surveillance teams notice that KR owners like sheppd01 actually abandon their KR's during car shows which make for easy prey to get the much needed side emblems and metal plate thingies . All we have to do is lay a trophy ten feet away from their car to distract them and badda bing their parts are ours to clone . MUUUHAAAHAAH !!!! THERE'S NO STOPPING US NOW - LET THE CLONING BEGIN !!!! What , uh ? Some KR owner stuff his car and Pick - n - Pull has all the parts we need ! Quick - to the Clonemobile ! Mmmmm - must have KR parts .
JDB
...we GT500 owners... ...the original manufacturer of the the KR hoods sold off the 10 -12 hoods that they had... ( Got a black one back then - yes they were painted) I see that a lot of GT500 owners talk about GT500's handling like a brick and needing suspension upgrades. Valid question here: Assuming a person buys a GT500, then suspension upgrades, maybe a couple other little performance upgrades, then a KR hood, then perhaps a KR splitter, and KR wheels... ...why not just buy a real KR? You'd probably at a similar price by then. It's hard to argue the fact that $52,000 for a 2 year old (the bottomed out price in 2010) GT500KR with around 2,000 miles is not one of the best Mustang performance bargains out there. Although that price hasn't fallen much in the past 3 years, it's still a very fair price. And if 540hp isn't enough, you wouldn't be the only person to mod a KR. And if it's a value issue, KR's have held steady for 3 years where most GT500's probably haven't. You have a 1 of 89 special edition too. Are you modding that? Or just buying KR parts as an investment for future sale? Any one of those 3 scenarios don't make better sense to me than buying a real KR, but that's just my opinion. Post a pic if you want. I'd be curious to see yours.

My car is only a weekend toy and being a convertible was number one on my list above everything else. Adding a few suspension mods wasn't a big deal to me or very expensive. I don't have or want the KR splitter, I have/had a set of KR wheels but I thought they were to gaudy looking so I sold them on Craig’s List just 2 days ago. I also have a KR hood for 3 years now and I love the look. I don't have a KR cloan I have a lightly modded GT500 with a KR hood and I'm very happy with the way it looks and performs.
