ViperNC
Suspension - Check. Driveline - Check. On to the cooling project.... Heat soak is an issue with all supercharged cars and I've got a few items I'm looking at to solve the problem. Would like to hear some opinions and advice. Bear in mind, my car when complete will be 90% street and 10% track so I don't want to do anything that is going to present unforeseen issues in normal driving conditions. Here are the items I am considering: http://www.shelbystore.com/Shelby-American-Transmission-Cooler-Scoop-p/s5m-5025-umt.htm http://www.shelbystore.com/product-p/z12-s7m-6k775-c.htm http://www.shelbystore.com/Shelby-GT500-Extreme-Duty-Radiator-p/z12-s7m-8005-c.htm http://vmptuning.com/07-12gt500/gt500ictank/ Am I missing anything? ViperNC
I checked that out, but I'm trying to stick to Shelby or Ford parts for my car in hopes that one day it will retain its original value and/or exceed the original value. I would have thought there would be more opinions out there. Guess I'm headed down the right path.
texaggie
Ford Racing has recently introduced an upgrade to the supercharger intercooler. It is standard on the 2013 gt500. http://www.fordracingpartsdirect.com/SHELBY_GT500_PERFORMANCE_INTERCOOLER_UPGRADE_p/m-6775-msvt.htm
The Chairman
On my '09GT500KR, I have this intercooler expansion tank from Roush Racing: http://www.roushperformance.com/parts/Mustang-Heat-Exchanger-Coolant-Tank-2010-2012.html And this larger intercooler from Shelby: http://www.shelbystore.com/Shelby-High-Performance-Heat-Exchanger-p/z12-s5m-6k775-u.htm Stock radiator and oil cooler. Have not had any over-heating problems, on or off-track. Oil and coolant temps are fine on a road course. Hope this helps.
Shelby73
I have actually started down the same path, and once done will have all upgrades you are looking to put on. After much research, these items complement each other very well and provide excellent cooling, and if you do decide to upgrade your blower in the future, you placed a great foundation for that product to shine. Why not go with the aluminum comp tank from Shelby? Just curious.
ViperNC
I talked with Tim and the Shelby tank is not as large for 07-09 cars. Otherwise I would go that direction.

Shelby73
I have the Bare Aluminum Shelby tanks and they are larger than the stock plastic ones, and require more coolent.
ViperNC
I have the Bare Aluminum Shelby tanks and they are larger than the stock plastic ones, and require more coolent. I think Tim stated they are larger than stock, however not as large as the one from VMP. Plus the ones from Shelby also include a power steering reservoir for some reason and the cost is excessive for all three.
Shelby73
The reason the cost is more is because all the tanks are machined to accept the stock caps. This and that they were oversized, was the main reason I purchased the set from Shelby. I have the Shelby Project 321 caps and would hate not to be able to use them on the tanks. IE the Morraso power steering tank will not fit the stock or 321 cap. Catch 22 if you will. Edited July 10, 2013 by Shelby73
