This Saturday May 25th, gates open at 9am......arrive early to get through Tech Inspection and be ready to race at 9am. You need not be a member of the GSRMC to participate........this event is open to anyone.......WITH A FORD! The weather forecast for this Saturday is Partly Sunny and 68 degrees. It doesnt get much better than that! More details below......... GSRMC 17th Annual Spring Drag Races The 17th Annual Spring Garden State Region Mustang Club drag-racing event is on Saturday, May 25th, 2013 at the famous quarter-mile track at Old Bridge Twp. Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. This year the start time is 9 a.m. It is recommended that you arrive early to maximize your track time. The event will run in the usual format with our own staging lane and trophies for the Eliminator 1st-round winners and finalists. Experience is NOT needed to race or even to do well, as some of our previous winners will tell you. As usual we love to see Mustangs and Fords racing, but we’re glad to have anyone come race with us regardless of what they’re driving (“run what you brung”). Bring your friends and/or family. They can race, too, if they meet all the rules and requirements. You don’t need a fast or specially prepared car, because the ‘playing field’ is leveled by the bracket-type handicap system during eliminations, which we will be glad to explain to novices (it’s easy). You may run for fun or continue in the club Eliminator and try for a trophy. The requirements to race are: 1) A valid driver’s license, 2) Muffled exhaust, 3) Working seat belts, 4) A helmet (which may be rented at the track for a nominal fee), 5) An overflow container for coolant, 6) A secure battery hold-down (no bungee cords), 7) The entry fee (still $30, per the current schedule). The famous track at Englishtown is conveniently located, and is steeped in drag racing history. Anyone needing directions or other info can call the track at (732)446-7800 or check the website (http://www.racewaypark.com). Racer entry fee is $30. If the weather is questionable on race day, call Raceway Park before you leave to check the latest recorded message. If the track is open for drag racing, our event will be run. You can find out which lane we’ve been assigned for the day at the gate or the Tech Booth (located in the pit area past the grandstands and fuel pumps).
