Here is a link to the info on this car. It is so cool that someone would donate this car to the museum.

Since this is the "home page" of the Shelby American Collection the content will change. I'll try to post a copy of the page as a reply but it might not work. Eventually the content will probably fold into the collection area.

1966 Shelby GT350 Supercharged prototype donated to the Shelby American Collection

The Shelby American Collection Museum is extremely proud to announce the donation of one of the most historically significant Shelby American built Mustang GT350’s to the museum in Boulder, Colorado. This Shelby is the only 1966 GT350-S produced and is serial number SFM6S051. Along with being the first and prototype supercharged GT350 it is also the first and only 65 bodied car to be painted other than Wimbledon White along with being the only one with the GT350-S side logo designation. This historic car and associated memorabilia was a gift from the estate of the late Joyce and Steve Yates of Nashville, Indiana.

According to museum volunteer Jim Cowles, Joyce Yates had attended the annual Museum Christmas party and fundraiser previously and relayed that her late husband Steve would be proud and amazed at the museum collection. Mrs. Yates was sad that her husband was not there to enjoy it with her and could not think of a better place to permanently display their pride and joy.

Starting in March the car will be on display along with the Yates collection of Shelby American Collectibles. Museum volunteers Jesse and Anna Bourdeau, Cory Miller, and Darren Longhofer made the trek to Nashville to pack up the car and memorabilia and transport it back to Colorado. According to Steve Volk, museum principal, the collection is excited to display a great piece of Shelby American history.

The Shelby American Collection is a not for profit 501C corporation located at 5020 Chaparral Ct Boulder, CO and is open to the public Saturdays and also available for special events. For more information www.shelbyamericancollection.org

That is one great car. I have seen it at the Indiana Shelby Club Spring Fling many times and always thought it was a treat to see it. Joyce and this GT350 will be missed but what a great donation.

Pretty darn cool. Its good to know that enthusiasts will have access to some of these rarer Shelby's. Too many of them are being squirrelled away in hidden private collections.

Steve

That is awesome! I would love to see that in person!
