svttim
Can you use the hood struts with the KR hood?
SGT0767
What hood struts are you looking at. I have the Red Line struts and they work well. We had them install when we were at Carlisle last year. Red Line had not install them on a KR before so they took lots of pictures as they installed them. I know that there are a couple of other members who have installed them on a KR as well.

Ford Fest
MRT offers a couple of struts. Just let them know that your application is for a KR hood. They offer black, carbon fiber and color match.

yosemiddysam
I have them on my 12 with a regular hood and I absoluetly love them. Spend the 20 more bucks and get the better ones. They look awesome. I will try to get a picture if you need!

08KR525
It looks like the MRT struts don't require that the hood be drilled. Do you have to drill the hood for the Redlines?

ShelbyKR664
Correct. I called the Redline folks and they confirmed it is a straight bolt on installation.
08KR525
Great. Thanks guys. I like the looks of the Redlines better and didn't want to modify my KR hood in any way. Edited February 6, 2014 by 08KR525
ShelbyKR664
Well I ordered the Redline Elite struts and they require 6 holes to be drilled. I noticed in the pics from Gotboost?, It is a simple straight forward bolt on, no drilling. I PM'ed Jer for confirmation as my strut instructions show they are for a 07-14 SuperSnake. As I mentioned above, Redline said that no drilling was required for the KR's so I am really confused.
ShelbyKR664
I have had them on my car for two years or so. No problems Dave, did yours bolt in or did you use rivets? I think Shelby sent me the wrong ones.

ShelbyKR664
Bolt on. I will see if I can get some pictures for you tomorrow. Dave, thanks. No rush. The pictures from Gotboost above clearly show the bolt on application. I just want to make sure I have the correct 90lb shocks. I don't want to drill 6 holes in this hood. Hope all is well! Redline Tuning
Hello Bill, Jer sent me a link to this thread and I wanted to respond to your question. Our Hood QuickLIFT system for the KR hood is a bolt in system and It utilizes the same design as our "stock hood" system with lower force gas springs due to the KR Carbon Fiber hood. It sounds as Shelby sent you the incorrect system as you should not have to drill into your hood as others have already stated. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Regards, Andreas
ShelbyKR664
Andreas, Thanks. I talked to Tim and they did indeed send me the wrong item. Thank goodness I did not drill already. Can't wait to get them on my car and appreciate your response. Bill
