Mark Miller
My '07 SGT spends a lot of time in San Francisco, Probably 75% of the year. Given that fact, and with 44,000 miles on the clock, I'm shopping for a new clutch. It's getting a bit hairy to get the car in reverse these days. Now that I'm back in good old Orange County for awhile I call my local Mustang specialist 281 Motorsports (Fullerton, CA) and ask them for a quote. I specified an OEM unit because I don't push the car that hard most of the time. Imagine my surprise when I get an email quoting me $2,775 for the job! That includes $1,845.99 for the clutch kit alone plus $690 for labor. It's time to pick the brains of Team Shelby. What clutch have you guys chosen to replace the original? The car will be back in those damn San Francisco hills in a month, and will be there for most of the year. Suspension components will be next. Thanks in advance for your advice. andrewnagle1964
Can't help with the knowledge of Lombard Street but in the Mountains of Western NC I love my Exedy 400 (comes with a OEM slave) also good time to upgrade the clutchline to JPC's Stainless
ilmor
Call your local Ford dealer. It's just a standard 07 Mustang GT clutch.
William Rodgers
That price seems ridiculous to me. I am curious what people have to say, when I replace mine I am more than likely going Mcleod twin disk, but I have a GT/SC. Good luck
Mark Miller
Thanks guys. I failed to mention that Mine has a Whipple on it so the Mcleod may be of interest. My golf buddy/service advisor at Ken Grody Ford quoted me $740 for the Mustang GT clutch and six hours of labor. That's in the ballpark
shelbytexan
I have a spec 2+ with a gt/sc and no issures but i don't drive to hard either. I have about 7500 miles on the clutch with the s/c. I also installed the steel flywheel and it ingauges very smooth. There are a lot of options out there but a lot of the problems people have is with the install. Be sure you get a good installer. Good-Luck.

That's in the ballpark I would look into the Mcleod, that is what Dennis from Tasca recommended, he has not pointed me in the wrong direction yet. springer
I went with the Ram twin disc/flywheel kit for my GT/SC. I also looked at McLeod but the Ram was highly recommended by a couple wrenches I know and a local Mustang performance shop that has been around forever. I haven't had a problem in over two years since I removed my SPEC junk clutch!!! Being you're supercharged, definitely replace it with the twin disc. I had mine done at my Ford dealer and it was around $2,000. The complete clutch kit with the aluminum flywheel was around $1400.
slbgtsc
I've run 2 spec 2+s with mixed results, a Mcleod RXT that gave me nothing but grief for more than a year(cost me $4400). I went with an Exedy Mach 500 after the Mcledod. It includes a new slave cylinder, and alignment tool. I'm pushing right at 500HP at the tire and it is holding up very well. It has a heavier feel than stock but after a few miles I hardly notice it. Total cost out the door was right at $950 installed.
