I will be going on Friday because I really want to see some action, especially the vintage stuff. I might bring my boy and maybe a couple of his friends. I will be taking the '65.

Thank you Dan. Same here! I was wondering, would you happen to know what would be a good time to arrive? I figure on a good day, the drive should take me 45 min - hour. I have never been to a SAAC event before so this will be pretty exciting.

First SAAC convention for myself as well. Not sure on the traffic but I know 4th of July weekend will be busy. Schedule says track opens at 7:30am but I'm not sure when the vintage racing begins. I'd say plan for a long day with sunscreen, lots of water and a great time.

I am surprised this is your first time. I figured you have done it before. Thank you for the info. I hope you enjoy it, too. Are you tracking, doing the car show, or spectating like myself?

Let me know what day your going Dennis.

Jim

Are you going Friday? I might be leaving early in the morning. Let me know if you want to meet up so we can fallow each other there.

I've been to a few SAAC events but never the convention. Being in our backyard means we gotta go. Not going to track the car this time. Marji and I are driving it cross country in 3 weeks so I don't want to chance any mishaps. I will however show the car on Saturday. You should show your 65 stang, it's a real beauty and quite worthy. :victory:

Think I will go and check this out on Fri and Sat. Is registration still open for car show?

Not sure but check out the SAAC website. I hope you can get out there with your Shelby.

Thank you for the kind words. I would love to, but I am still jobless. I can only afford the minimum right now. Seems that no one wants to hire a new fully certified x-ray tech that does not have at least 2 yrs under the belt. But when I do and get a couple years in, then I will be able to afford some fun entertainment, you know, like tracking the car! I still need a few mods to do that, yet still keep it street worthy. Sounds like you won't be there on Friday. Good luck at the show!

You did the work, got the education, the job will follow............and with the Baby Boomers and Gen Xer's getting up there in age, the Medical Industry is a FANTASTIC career to be in.

I'll be at SAAC tomorrow. Plan is to be there all 3 days.

Yeah I bet all the Shelby owners will be coming in complaining of their heart rate going up every time they drive their Shelbys. Then I will be able to shoot Chest X-Rays to make sure they do not have an enlarged heart from it! :hysterical: See you there!

Looks like you guys had fun! I was planning on going but ended up getting a dog this week and needed to "break him in."

Had fun. Was nice to see some TS members out there. Once again, I felt very welcome by the members and by some of the Staff from SAI. My apolodies go out to Gary P. for not saying hi. I was in the middle of talking to Vince about SAI stuff and tried to find Gary later, but I guess he was busy the rest of the day having some driving fun. My first time talking to Vince, what a nice guy. Sure missed not seeing Jer at SAAC, maybe next time. A special thanks to my friend Don and his friend Oz for letting my group hang out at their camp. It was my first time going to a SAAC event and man, was it fun. The parade lap was awesome. My boy had a great time. I have a few pics here. Oh, by the way, saw the Raptor in person. What a sweat looking truck!

GT 40 was driven by Bob Bounderaunt as the pace car for the vintage race. Yes, there was a pinto racing and hung in there pretty well with the rest of the iron.

Great pics. I was lucky enough to push the Pinto on the trailer after it broke Friday. haha. I was watching the TV crew film the new Shelby Focus Saturday, they were having a hard time spinning the front tires, I thought for $40k+ it had better burn them off easily. :)

A couple of pics and a video of me in action on the track..... a word of caution - there is colorful language at the end of the video. Once you watch you will understand why.

Well if you ask me, I think your words were too kind for that guy! My kids kept telling me to pass people, on a parade lap! Maybe it was my 9 yr old that drove that car when I wasn't watching :hysterical:
