harristotle
Seriously epic car! Haven't all the stripes on will make a big difference too. Sorry if this is posted earlier in the thread, but what have you done, if anything, with the engine?
Kevin Patten
In this class of racing we are VERY LIMITED with what we can do on the motor. We are ONLY ALLOWED 315 RWHP with 325 RWTQ . As far as the motor goes , A/C eliminator kit , 90mm CAI ( stock Shelby ) , Steward hi-volume water pump , Steeda under drive pulley set , Gates Racing belt , Borla long tube headers ( required ) , JLT oil/air separator , Gates 180 degree T-stat , Autolite HT0 spark plugs , FRPP radiator and degas tank ( required ) . They do NOT allow balancing and/or blueprinting or ANY internal mods . Some of the emissions control components have been removed but other than that - just a stock 83,000 mile motor . Oh yea - a Ford Racing oil filter and synthetic oil . Thinking of putting on some valve covers just to dress it up some .

Huh, interesting... thanks for the info! 325 is still a good amount on the ground, especially with the weight saving stuff it looks like you've done. Jer
Having the front and rear fascias painted along with the wing - should be picking them up tomorrow and the rear axle assembly . Driver's seat should be showing up on Wednesday and I'll be taking it down to Laguna Seca ( unfinished ) for photo opts on Friday/Saturday during the SCCA race . Ordering some Crow Enterprizes #11146PR six point belts in silver/gray to match the SGT color scheme . Still waiting for some silver stripes and other decals. etc... Workin' on it! Kevin Patten
As you see it in the pics ( stock driver's seat and no cage ) I'm @ 3020 lbs ( car only ) LF = 858 lbs. , RF = 845 lbs. , LR = 672 lbs. , and RR = 646 lbs . I have a front % of 56.5 % / 43.5 % rear and a left side of 50.5 % / 49.5 % passenger . So I have some figuring out as to where to put the weight placement as far as the cage structure , fire bottle , rear bulkhead material . The class minimum requirement is 3475 lbs. including driver as it comes off the track . I'll keep putting it back on the scales every change from here on out to be checking the weight and it's placement .

ViperNC
Here is a link to the NASA vesion of this class. definately a drivers class CMP is in my backyard. So that is what it feels like to be on that track in a car... been wondering about that. My only experience at CMP is on two wheels. The first thing that jumped out at me is the sound of all the track debris in your wheel wells!
Kevin Patten
Crossweight? 50.2% at this time but that will change @ different tracks. That video gets me a going ! My only experience at CMP is on two wheels. The first thing that jumped out at me is the sound of all the track debris in your wheel wells! Not my car, its still snowing here. I am running ST3 this year, higher HP/Wt percentage. Wish they would have had this class when I started but my car is to advanced for this class. Much less expensive to run the spec Iron class. The video gave me the urge to get out as well. Damn snow!

Kevin Patten
Thanks Jim for coming along and helping plus taking pics . Yesterday and today was a bit windy but still great weather . This weekend is the SCCA's celebration of the "Inaugural SMG (SPEC MUSTANG GROUP) race" It's a double points - 3 race event here @ Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey , Calif. Many showed up for the event including Filip Trojanek ,owner of Cortex Racing ( manufacturer of the SPP Track Pack Suspension Kit ) with his Mustang Pace Car . Chuck Koehler ,who is the official photographer for the SFR SCCA set up the photo shoot so hopefully the pic of us lined up at turn 9 will show up on the cover of this next month's edition of " The Wheel ". Friday was a practice and qualifying day schedule for our group and Sat. was a practice session and Race 1 . Addison Lee won the first race today with a 1:40 lap time after qualifying on the pole with a high 1:39 time . Sunday will have in it's schedule 2 races for our class but for family reasons I could not stay another day . Definitely some door to door racing in the first race - going to be a very competitive race season ! We had a group BBQ on Friday night with the folks running the " American V8 Supercar " class and the SMG group was the focus point/group @ the Saturday Night " Track Social Get Together". All good things.
