Kevin Patten
Russ is down in Florida testing at the Daytona Speedway for the SCCA Runoffs (of course it's raining there). Hopefully he keeps the car in one piece.

mark.barton
So, any news on how Russ and the SGT did at Daytona? Mark
Kevin Patten
Well Mark, First of all, Russ ended up not taking the SGT because he felt that it would not be competitive enough on the Daytona high banks so he bought a 2001 Z06 Corvette ( the car finished second in class at last years Runoffs). The Corvette was capable of the high speeds needed to be had on the oval portion (Russ was clocked @ 167 MPH) however we got it just before packing for the trip out east and the car hadn't been worked on since last year's Runoffs at Laguna Seca Raceway and we spent most of the time during the four days of testing and four days of qualifying fixing stuff. We thought that we had things covered come raceday (Sunday) and at the start of the race Russ got a good shot - after that - the race gods started to frown upon us. First we got hit in the right rear in turn 3 which got Russ and the car sideways and as he's dealing with it the car that clipped him proceeds to hit the front of the car across the nose. Then on the following lap the Corvette goes into a "safety mode" and limits the top speed to 110 MPH. Needless to say this doesn't work well against other cars going 160+ MPH so Russ just drove with what he had for the remainder of the 14 lap race. It was very disappointing since we felt that we had the capabilities of a top five finish - it was a long quiet ride back home to the west coast. Kevin Patten
On a happier note - I just found out that last year (2014) I won my class in the RDC (Racing Drivers Club) Points Series with 1800 points. I wonder if they still have the trophy
Kevin Patten
Time to update some items during the "off season". Kevin Patten
Getting ready to take 07SGT4755 out for a NORCAL SAAC club open track day at Laguna Seca Raceway for some track time before the end of the year. If the gearing works out then I'll pull the rear axle assembly out and drop it off at Cortex to get the "floater" cambered rear end conversion done. Kellie is cooking in the kitchen and I'm loading the truck up for tomorrow's NORCAL SAAC Turkey Bowl at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey.
