ICOOLUM
Hey Gang, I just took delivery of my 2013 Sterling Gray Black Stripes (pictures to follow soon) I was driving home in it and noticed a propensity to do what I have always done in my cars which is exceed the speed limit, mostly its accidental. I have noticed there are many more cops patroling with radar in TX than in CA. where I moved from. I certainly will need to invest in the best working detector out there. Lets get some opinions of the best out there. It doesnt need to be the most expensive I just want it to work and work all the time. Thanks, Kevin

Bill Hamilton
Valentine 1 has saved me many, many times over the last decade. I've been using them in all my cars, even my rentals. Had several Escort's and Valentine's over the years, Still have a Escort IQ and Valentine One and the Valentine is tops. They all work to a certain degree, just some have more range. ICOOLUM
Thanks guys, I'll check into The Valentine. I have also heard good reviews of the Beltronics sti magnum also. I know that The Beltronics and the Escort 9500IX go for around $500 which is cheaper than one nasty ticket of course. I want to really get something that will work now and has as long of a range as possible and is updated via web for future.

GoFrogs34
Agreed on the passport 9500ix.. Have mine hard wired above my rear view behind the dark visor on my windshield. Built in GPS and 360 degree protection. Highly recommend it!
CSX4833
Escort 9500ix for sure. Hard wired as well but below the rear view. Great protector.

Bill Hamilton
Escort 9500ix See this: http://www.teamshelb...r/#entry1286522 Yeah, that was the same mount I used for my Valentine. It's always there and I don't have to worry about the suction cups falling off the windshield. I highly recommend getting that setup no matter which detector you get. I use my Escort IQ in my 1970 Mach 1 as it has the GPS and acts as a "corrected" speedometer also. Couple of months ago the suction cups gave way and it fell off the windshield onto my T-handle manual Hurst Shifter cracking the face lens. I called the Escort folks about the cost of getting it repaired. They said since I had it less than a year they would replace the unit under warranty. I was shock, suprised, and very happy as they replaced the entire unit and sent me new suction cups also.

ICOOLUM
Ok Guys, Thanks all of you for the great feedback and article info. I will go with the IX with hard mount since it is the majority consensus. Anyone have knowlege of a good price hookup? If not $500 is fine if it saves me high cost of tickets. I do with the blendmount - love it especially with the new OLED display - seems to have good detection range.
springer
I find myself consistently moving mine between cars which has saved me from some of the over-zealous officers in the town nearby that have a passion for ticket writing. I live in the second worst city in the USA for issued speeding tickets per capita. Flower Mound, TX. You might want to rethink that hard mount option. rdrawkit
Just a question??? Can the highway police detect when on coming vehicles have a radar detecter in their vehicles???? We always thought they could.....
Jer
Valentine One. Mike Valentine designed the Escort and Passport back when he worked for Cincinnati Microwave, and left to start his own company years ago. They absolutely make the best detector for many reasons, and many tests have proven it. Go to their website for all the info. I've had mine for maybe 12 or 13 years, and it's untouchable, no kidding.
