Ford Fest
A good friend of mine and his wife just purchased a super low mileage 2007 GT, black on black. This is their first Mustang and although it is not a Shelby they are hoping I can get them some advise for some small mods that will wake up the 4.6 and give it their personal touch. Nothing major or obnoxious, but just want to make it theirs. They are considering. . . Mufflers (just mufflers, not full system), CAI, Tune What do you recommend? What brand etc? Anyone have any of their take off parts for sale that would be upgrades from factory parts? Edited October 10, 2012 by Ford Fest
2007_Shelby_GT
Well, I got rid of the mufflers and went with SLP Loudmouths - great sound, no drone. FRPP CAI or other. Custom dyno-tune is best, but there are some good "canned" tunes out there, I suggest a call to Justin Starke at VMP Tuning. Sam

The best mod would be 410 gears, hands down.Cold air induction and a tune would be next , doing this as a combination. I had the brenspeed tune and it was very noticeable. I have the one piece driveshaft installed but that is to pricey for what you get. And of course an supercharger is the best but very costly. Shorty headers are marginal but long-tubes would be noticeable but more costly. The list goes on and on.Good-Luck
RACERX009
Yes 4.10 gear will be a blast
AndyGJ
I love my FRPP KR mufflers!!!! Andy
SGT0128
IMHO, 4.10 gears are the best bang for the buck.
mr2turtle
I second the FRPP KR mufflers as well. The cold air intake would probably be right up there too.
Rev Dennis
The E-Force supercharger is not too costly, is it? Anyone know the installed cost for that? Plenty of bang for the buck. You don't need 550 HP unless you drag.
jmn444
You don't need 550 HP unless you drag. Hmmm. If we were facebook friends, I'd unfriend you! You are probably right in some ways, but I don't think 550 is enough some days....
2007_Shelby_GT
E-Force here - 466 hp / 420 lb tq at the rear wheels - self installed it came in at about $6500. The numbers are 5 lbs of boost with a dyno tune and CAI. Stock Edelbrock tune and stock airbox will give about 420 hp / 400 lb tq. Bunky
Don't under estimate the effects of suspension mods. After renting a stock Mustang on this years vacation, I have a totally new respect for the SGT suspension package. You don't need to go really fast to tell the difference. THIS is the best answer for sure. Stance and handling first, then wheels (chose carefully IF any plans for big brakes later though), then exhaust. ShelbyDW
550 Whipple with stock Shelby suspension is awsome. Just saying. With some good rubber, its fun, fast and sneaky.
REDTAIL
i would start on the bottom and work my way up suspension then wheels JIM Edited October 11, 2012 by REDTAIL
Ford Fest
Guys, thank you for all of the feedback. I'll pass this along. We'll see how much his wife will let him invest in their new ride. Lol
ledfoot73
If not a supercharger definitely the 4:10 gears then the stickiest street tires you can get. Go for the grip with the tires, it's not a Honda civic and your probably not going to drive it 20k miles a year anyway, and even if you did it's a heck of a lot more fun. Jer
Handling package. Brakes. Cold air kit + Underdrive pullies + Dyno tune (as a package). In that order. Just my 2 cents! Jer
