Snoopy49
MMR 07-2013 Shelby GT500 External Oil Cooler Kit The biggest problem I see is, no temperature control (thermostatically controlled by-pass valve).
svt13
Oh isn't the stock one suppose to turn on at a certain temperature? How is the MMD one controlled?
Snoopy49
The stock one uses an oil to water cooler that relies on engine water for cooling. The engines water temperature is controlled with a thermostat. Edited October 4, 2012 by Snoopy49
svt13
No the factory track pack oil cooler. Its air/oil but I think it only comes on when the oil reaches a certain temperature.
Snoopy49
The factory track package cooler uses a thermostatically controlled by-pass valve. The oil bypasses the cooler until it hits a specific temperature and then the thermostat opens the valve to the cooler. svt13
Yea doesn't it only allow the extra cooling when a certain oil temperature is reached?
Snoopy49
Yes, the SVT TP cooler is temperature controlled. The thermostat bypasses the cooler until the oil reaches a specified temperature.
svt13
So then your saying the MMR unit then does not have this correct? What is the downside of not having this?

svt13
condensation in the oil, which in turn changes the oil to an acid Well then that sounds like a very serious issue. How could they not have addressed this?
