2008 Shelby Terlingua - $65000 (Newport Beach)

2008 Ford Mustang Terlingua

The Ford Mustang Terlingua was created by Carroll Shelby and Shelby American to commemorate the Terlingua racing team of 1965 -- 1966 and the Terlingua spirit embodied by Bill Neal.'s emblem of an angry jackrabbit with its paw raised aggressively. Jerry Titus raced a GT-350R in Terlingua livery in the B Production National Championship behind the wheel of a Mustang GT350 in 1965. He later became Carroll Shelby's lead driver in the famous wars of 1967 -- 1968 waged at Riverside and so many other raceways. During 1967 Titus led all series drivers with four wins behind the wheel of the Terlingua Racing Team Mustang.

Terlingua black & yellow became one of the most famous trademarks in racing, and Shelby and his friends took great glee in plastering Terlingua stickers everywhere they could including the starting grid at Indianapolis one year.

The Terlingua name was revived in 2007, with the first cars delivered late that year, at the height of the financial crisis. The Shelby Terlingua Registry records only 38 vehicles, making the Terlingua one of the rarest of Shelby's creations.

The Terlingua is a six cylinder supercharged road rocket. With 375 HP and the Shelby performance package, the car includes high performance brakes, suspension, and exhaust systems.

The example was built in March 2008 by Shelby American in Las Vegas and was one of the first cars delivered. It is believed that production ceased in late 2008.

The car was in an accident in early 2011 and carries a California salvage title. It underwent a complete restoration in 2011 including BMR subframe, Eaton TruTrac limited slip differential Posi Ford, roll bar, and other upgrades.

Styling upgrades include highlighted engine compartment and suspension paint in Terlingua correct colors, Fastback rear seat delete kit, recessed spare tire, and upgraded sound system. No expense was spared in restoring and upgrading this vehicle.

The car has been featured in many magazines and shown nationally by the Shelby Foundation. The Terlingua is one of the most desirable vehicles produced by Shelby and one of the rarest. The "509" car is even more so. Copies of all records and receipts for work done on the car are included.

OK, there are only 40 of us. Who is the owner and are them members of Team Shelby? I think the salvaged title could be problematic in the short term and perhaps the long term. It will be interesting to watch. If it weren't for the salvaged title, I think it would probably sell fairly quickly depending on the condition.

Does anyone know the csm # or where it was built. Las vegas or what.

Ad says it was built in Vegas, but doesnt give a confirmed CSM - just a mention of car "509". But you could have read that for yourself :hysterical:

The 509 car was the Carroll Shelby's Children's Foundation Giveaway car that Matt Holzmann won. He recently posted on FB that the car was back on the road and had needed some work. No mention of a wreck or it being totaled though.

Yes, that is indeed the correct CSM # and the correct car, the raffle prize car from CSCF for 2008 as stated by both DeWayne and Stang_Girl. Thanks for posting this info, I was out of pocket fighting the western wildfires.
