devious_stang
All major mags and online blogs have released reviews and numbers. Most impressions are great for the car. Motor trend was able to click off a 11.6 @ 126 in the 1/4 mile. Can not wait to get mine!

DHRV65
Sweet! I think I might have to build a two car garage and buy a coupe to go with my vert ... only if I win the lottery!
speedyman
Those results make the decision to buy a previous year, retrofit with a now reasonably priced TVS unit, and save $20,000.00 a no brainer.

I suppose that someone with a 2011-2012 could achieve results that are close by adding a TVS, bigger cooling, etc. Having said that, it will never be like the complete package. There must be a reason why Ford engineers spend time testing these cars, trying to strike the best possible balance between performance, drivability, and reliability. That last aspect (and the persence of a proper guarantee) will certainly be a factor for severai potential owners.

Unfortunately once we start modding them, all bets are off once we deviate from what the factory 'engineered'. Brings both positives and negatives, of course. patrickshelby
It's far from being a 12' with a TVS... What about the 5.8L + The electronic suspension + the bigger brakes + the LED tailights + the revised front and rear masks + the quad exhaust... If this was true then don't you think they would have done that in 30 minutes and called it a day? Not spend years engineering the car. There is a common sense reason they didn't just slap on a TVS and say "hey lets go out for drinks now job done!!!".

Now if one is just interested in numbers and bench racing then dropping as TVS into any year Shelby will probably suffice. But head to head on the track I believe the '13 would be the hands down winner.
svt13
Even with a TVS a 12 wouldn't have a 1/4 mile time like the 13 does. The only thing putting a TVS on a 12 would accomplish is having equal hp and thats it.

Do keep in mind that "slapping" a TVS on any prior year GT500 yields an absolute monster of a muscle car and that is without Launch Control and all the other incedentals included on the 13s. A stock '13 will need help to run with a TVS retrofit running an aftermarket tune package. Those packages can run deep in the 10s well in excess of 130 MPH. But those cars had different tires, suspension, mods, and tune to do it. If I took a 12 and did only the TVS and tune so it runs properly and kept it on stock tires, your just going to get a ton of wheel spin. Basically like a supersnake. mike.s
i think a good aftermarket tune will change the 13 quite a bit. just my opinion but i think they left a lot on the table with the 5.
