CodyWayne718
Is the stock x pipe with muffler deletes enough flow for when my intake and pulley go on or do I need high flow cats in order for decent gains? Just trying to plan a little ahead. I'm pretty sure that's as far as I will go performance wise. Thanks
2007tungstenGT500
i'm probably a bit late on the response here, but here's my two cents... stock EXHAUST (including mufflers) provide enough flow for intake and pulley combo. anything you do to increase the efficiency of the exhaust system thereafter is just icing on the cake. in addition to being a huge PIA, long-tube headers will require a new ECM tune for your intake/pulley combo. I had shorty headers on my '06 GT, but have opted to leave the stock manifolds on my GT500. The other thing to worry about is the sound quality and volume. Most axle-back/muffler kits are designed to enhance the stock exhaust. When you introduce a high-flow cat system (or no cats at all), the sound will change. In my case, it was rather drastically! Just with an x-pipe with high-flow cats and FRPP KR mufflers, it was unbearably shrill and loud during any kind of acceleration. I ended up buying a Borla cat-back system to quiet it back down to a reasonable volume.
