Grabber
My Escort / Passport radar detector used to hang from my windshield with 2 suction cups. Sometimes they would come loose and the detector would be laying on my dash. this is what it used to look like: Then I bought a "super suction cup" that was bigger and this is what it looked like: I just installed my Blendmount unit to my mirror and I must say it looks way better now and my vision is not blocked and the installation has a factory look to it. This mount has many adjustments on it so you can get it just perfectly situated in your car. The unit is very quality. I bought mine from Amazon for $77 bucks plus shipping. Very happy with the unit !

Grabber
......and a big thanks to Slabo for showing me this unit when we were in LV for the bash. He installed it in his 40th and I was very impressed with it and his new detector that he bought, so I bought Tana the same set up and had to upgrade my silly suction cups to this unit too ! B) Lookin' good Rob!! I have to say I was impressed with that little cordless S3 detector. It definitely paid for itself during the bash along with the cars following us during the poker run. I also put a blend mount in my truck so I can move the detector back and forth. Only way to go!
thewheelman
Very cool! My kids keep telling me I need a "good" radar detector, but I just tell them it'll get me in trouble. I like the way you powered it. I just did a similar rig for my gps. Very cool!

Grabber
Where did you run the power cord to? I had a smart Escort smart cord installed 3 years ago by a professional installer. He hard wired it under the dash by the dead pedal. He had to look up exactly which wires to tap into. Escort has a manual that tells what wires to use. I rerouted the chort to the headliner via the piller. Here is a link to buy the smart cord. http://www.amazon.com/Escort-79-000041-01-Direct-Wire-SmartCord/dp/B0003NN83K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334701586&sr=8-
Grabber
The Escort Solo S3 works real good and it is cordless. I was with Bob / Slabo at the 50th bash and he was running the S3 on the poker run. It picked up a cop about a 1/2 mile away and saved us and a big group that was following us on the run. I was so impressed with it that I bought my wife one. Here is a link to the S3 by Escort. http://www.amazon.com/Escort-Solo-Cordless-Radar-Detector/dp/B004S22KFE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1334701843&sr=1-

AndyGJ
I have the S2 and it has saved me a few times as well. I bought the cordless S2 so that I could easily move it back and forth from the SGT to my Expedition, or on a rare trip in the wife's GL450, but the suction cups....well, they suck! I was thinking about ordering one of those mega mounts just yesterday as I have seen ads for them for about the last year or so. This is 100x better, so I'll be getting these for both my vehicles and just save the suction cups for the wife's car, etc. Thanks Rob!!!

Grabber
Blendmount also sells a mirror tap cord so you can just take power from the mirror. http://www.blendmoun.../mirrortap.html That is a pretty cool invention. Saves a lot of time trying to run wires and figure our what wires to tap into. I noticed that when you click on it, they have all manufactures makes and years available. Here is the one for the Mustang 1995 to 2009. They also have them for the 2010 to present. http://store.blendmount.com/mirrortap-radar-detector-power-cord-with-inline-fuse-ford-mustang-p469.aspx

Grabber
I decided to by another escort 9500ix radar detector and use the Solo S3 in my work truck. So I installed the blend mount mirror wire tap to pull power off of Tana's power mirror. What a slick set up. http://store.blendmo...stang-p469.aspx The 2009 GT500 has 3 wires into the back of the mirror. Purple, Black and White. All you do is take the blendmount wire tap red wire and push it into the purple socket and then take the Black wire and stick it into the black socket. Then you use a small zip tie to attach the wire to the existing mirror wire and you then have power for your radar detector that goes on when you turn the key on. Here are some pic's of the install. I might just have to get one on those myself, Thanks Grabber The 2 items, the mount and the wire harness are kind of spendy ($110)....but it is a slick set up and there are no other cleaner installation methods. thewheelman
Does Blendmount (or some other supplier) make a similar device for mounting gps units? I have power cord tapped in and fixed behind mirror, but suction cup keeps falling off. I'd like a more secure mounting device and I like gps up next to mirror on passenger side. Thanks! Ian9614
Guys, this is the way to go if you are looking for a radar detector. Have this exact setup in both my car and daily driver truck. It truly blends into the car, almost to the point of being un-noticable by potential thieves. Escort has awesome range, and the only way you'll get a ticket is with pop radar or laser. It was the first thing I bought for my car. If you are on the fence, jump!

Thanks Grabber, I've had various detectors since 1985 and currently on my second Valentine One (traded in the original for newest upgraded Valentine One) and finally after all these years I have a decent mount and power hookup without running cords everywhere (LOL). I had to use the search function here to find this post a second time to figure out why I was having problems picking up a power source. Then I noticed, ...."when you turn the key on." Oops,... now it works great (LOL). Thanks again.

farmboy90
Argh!!! It looks like Ford changed the stem size on the new mustangs. I got my 2013 yesterday, and my 3/4" rougue mount doesn't even come close to fitting around the stem. Looks like I need to order the 7/8"!! Anyone want an unused 3/4" rogue mount? AndyGJ
I might...can you send me a picture? Andy@andyjabaley.com I'll measure both of mine to confirm what size I have. I was planning on getting one for my Solo II cordless at some point. I'll see if I can find that mount on line as well to make sure it was the one I was thinking of. Andy. Thanks "Spectre500", I was an aircrew member and not an avionics's troop so I don't remember which plug holes I used exactly but ensure the key is on (duh, need the power) and then use the trial and error method to what lights up. I tried to get pictures of the back side of the mirror connector but that's harder than it sounds(LOL). I hadn't had a speeding ticket in years as my Valentine One has saved me many a time with warnings. However, I got nailed in July by an FHP airplane on I-10 heading west toward Pensacola. They got four of us at the same time and while I was sitting there politely with the FHP patrolman, two more FHP Crown Vic's took off out of their bear's nest hiding place nailing another pair. Went back this past weekend and this time my wife warned me of the circling airplane. Sure enough, I was only going the limit, but when we got around the curve there were three FHP cars with blue lights flashing collecting "revenues" for the Fla Taxpayers (LOL). And thanks for your service too.
