flo Posted April 4, 2012 Report Share Posted April 4, 2012 Hello, I just received new HAWK HP PLUS front brake pads. I am not use with the brembo brake pads. Ok, the front brake pads set come with 4 brake pads but I have only 2 brakes pads with one metallic hook pin. Is it OK/normal to have 2 brakes pads with a mettalic hook pin and 2 others without that metallic hook pin ? Thank you Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Kevin Patten Posted April 5, 2012 Report Share Posted April 5, 2012 The pads with the metallic clip go on the inboard side - they are pad wear indicaters - so that when the pad wears down to a certain thickness they will scrape against the side of the rotor and make noise - the pads on the outside face of the rotor do not have them because you can usually see the thickness remaining without taking off the wheel and because when the outer pad wears down it scrapes the face of the rotor and you will see that.
