Anytime you have a hole that is a little oversized, place something in it, like a wire, and it will take up the slack and allow the screw to tighten up. The same thing works with wood - done it many times. Good luck. I've used pieces of solder for taking up slack in holes. It's soft so it won't screw up the threaded metal. 07SGT Posted June 9, 2012 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2012 finally installed the screws yesterday. Used strips of a rubbery/plastic type shipping bands from a purchase I made. Cut the bands into narrow strips and inserted in the screw holes. The new screws bit in to and the strips filled the hole. apparently successful.
