Matt@KB
SHELBY GT500, 1325HP 8.48/ 164, E85 PUMP GAS, KENNE BELL 4.2LC, 3660LBS Mark Meiering has been testing the Kenne Bell Liquid Cooled 4.2 on his Shelby GT500 with E85. It made 1067 RWHP with a power robbing TH400 trans- on pump E85- in Albuquerque’s thin 5300FT air. On 2/17/12 Mark, gassed up at the local station, loaded up the conservative tune, lowered boost 4PSI and headed for Las Vegas. First run the 3660LB street car ran an 8.50/ 164 and then an 8.48/ 164. There is another 4PSI and 80HP left in the supercharger not counting the tune of only 14 degrees. Mark and John Mihovetz are still experimenting with just how much boost they can run with E85. Las Vegas Speedway wouldn’t let the car run faster than the 8.50 without a 25-2 cage, so the testing ended. To turn 164 MPH in the 1/4 mile with a 3660LB car and a manual trans requires 1225EHP or 1041RWHP (.85 X EHP= RWHP). I have personally witnessed Danny Thompson’s Accufab built engine pump out 1190HP at 17PSI on E85 and 1400 at 26PSI on the Westech Engine Dyno. Mark’s de-tuned engine actually makes 1325EHP because the TH400 is eating up 100HP without lock up converter and a manual trans. I believe John Mihovetz has verified this with +1400HP engine dyno runs on his latest engines. What’s especially impressive is the street Shelby’s 3660LB weight with all the accessories (PS, PB, AC, ALT, PW, Stereo etc.). It would run 7.80's at 175 at the reduced 3000LB race weight that some of the competition Cobra Jets run. And it still uses an automatic trans instead of a manual liberty. Best of all, Mark’s car doesn’t rely on the ‘ol “nitrous crutch” for HP numbers. For all motor, E85 pump gas, conservative 14 degree tune and 4-6PSI boost in reserve, 8.48/164 is impressive. Mihovetz figures it has an 8.30/168 in it before lightening the car up to 3000LBS.
2010KonaBlueGT
SHELBY GT500, 1325HP 8.48/ 164, E85 PUMP GAS, KENNE BELL 4.2LC, 3660LBS Mark Meiering ..... Yeah, I've been watching Mark's progress since I joined Team Shelby. It's pretty amazing what he's getting out of that car! I'm curious about the photo. I was going to ask how far out of the hole that is but it appears it's a pre-stage photo because I don't see the staging lights or a tree. But the front wheels are about PERFECT for a good launch and 100% weight transfer. I don't see any wrinkles in the rear tires though. Is that a dry hop, prior to staging? GREAT posture for a "street car", he must have some insane 60' times. Obviously, there's a lot of suspension work done to it to get a lanuch like that. Nice job (again), Mark. NMAv
Mark, Did Chris/Hoyt @ DynoTech do all the engine work? I know they did a lot as I would see your car in the shop whenever I dropped mine off, or so it seemed.
SGT/SC#0471
Amazing. I thought the term "all motor" referred to normially aspirated engines with no nitrious or any other power adders however, not trying to be a tool, just wondered if the phrase has changed street meaning?
