I bought a 16" antenna from american muscle and it broke at the base a fews weeks later when I was installing my car cover. The ball on the top of the antenna comes off. Cut off your antenna at your desired height, I chose 13" then tap the ball on the antenna. I "think" I remember reading at 13" you can still get a good radio reception.
