Texas Mile Super Snake # 401 5.8L Build Thread

Recommended Posts

With registration for the Texas Mile opening today I thought I would start off with a build we have been working on since July of 2011. The owner approached Revan Racing to provide products and oversee the details of this build. The customer wanted the guidance, support and information customers expect along the way. The foundation for the build was put in place.

Shortly after the Texas Mile in October 2011 and the great success we had out there I approached the customer about setting the car up for the March 2012 Texas Mile.

His only question was, who's going to drive it? I love rhetorical questions......

The base of the build is a 2007 Grabber Orange Super Snake.

All of the work is being done at Power By the Hour in Boynton Beach, FL. Jake, Jesse, Harvey and Frank have been great to work with and they helped us get to 204.9 MPH with the other Super Snake.

So to start out the owner had a TVS on the car with the stock engine, long tube headers, cold air kit and a 10% Overdrive pulley. We base lined the car at 713 RWHP / 683 RWTQ. TVS had been ported and had a 2.6 pulley on it as well. Not bad for 93 octane, stock injectors and a 9" Rear End with 3.89 Gears.

We then installed the Kenne Bell 3.6 Liquid Cooled Supercharger on to the car just to get a baseline. With Jon Lund tuning remotely on the Revan Lund Motorsports Dyno Jet at Power By the Hour the Super Snake put down 730 RWHP / 658 RWTQ. While we were at it we put the 205 LB injectors in to make sure we had enough fuel on the 93 octane. Jon got the injectors dialed in and the car tuned nicely.

We sent the clutch back to SPEC to have it upgraded from SS to ST and it should be in tomorrow or Tuesday and then it's Rock and Roll! Texas Mile is March 22-24 and we are running out of time. We were running out of time in July 2011.

Stayed tuned this time we're going Texas Mile Racing in a vert!

Looks like it will be an awesome thread Van. Good Luck!

BTW you are missing the mufflers you will be using on your neat list of mods for this 500. I assume it is going to be Borla again?

I read the 5.0 Mustang article. That's why I know the exhaust from the last one.

When we are not engaging the cutout exhaust system and going to straight exhaust it will be flowing through a Borla System on the street.

Sweet! That's cool. Once I get my 500, I will do a similar setup except I will have the cutouts exhale through a Boss 302 style H and sidepipes.

BTW may I ask what Borla Muffler (Touring, Stinger, ATAK) you will be using and also the muffler used on the 200MPH Vapor Snake?

This looks like it is going to be another great thread from you great guys over a Revan Racing.

Looks good Van, i wish i had a 5.8. Maybe someday.

Nah, we'll do a Supercharged 427 next on your ride...........THE FASTEST SUPER SNAKE IN THE WORLD and nobody is even close to that record. Period!
