frknfast
Well guys have 4025 almost finished. Just going over all the nuts and bolts and rechecking everything, and fine tuning through out. There are custom hand made aluminum parts that have never been on a cobra. The other cool part is that they have been made by a chap here that worked for AC in England in the 60s and worked on both the cobras, the Ace and Bristol. He has also trained another fellow here who has made some parts for the car as well as did the finish of the body.

08KR525
Very, very nice. I would have the hood scoop made out of aluminum and just clear that beautiful body. Good to see you bringing this project to completion.

frknfast
thx guys. Yes the body will remain as it is. It has been semi brushed finish to remove the rough spots. You can still see the weld lines and some of the deeper marks made during the original making of the body. The scoop is fibre glass. Did think to make it alum but that is not how it was in 65. Keeping it original to 1965.

twobjshelbys
Are you really going to leave it unpainted? This would be unusual for a Shelby CSX. This was something started by a few Kirkham owners (the "bare naked ladies", and usually polished) but real Cobras were always painted. The only one I know of is the one in the Shelby museum. If we were voting I would vote to paint. I don't care for the unfinished look (even on the Kirkhams).
GT500-07
+1, I'd paint it still a great build
frknfast
Sorry guys no paint. The cars did come unpainted. Shelby painted them, As most know his first car was repainted at least 4 times for different showings and events as he only had the one car to show. This also avoids the constant question "is it glass?" Also it give folks the chance to see what the real body looked like form the factory. To paint the car a thin coat of bondo needs to be put over the whole car to give it a completely smooth finish. Plus it is different
MY500SS
I also like the painted look, but if I had a CSX1000 series I wouldn't cover it with paint. She's a beauty frknfast.
