So they went to an owner of a SS and he didn't already have the wheels?

Spares???

These would look real good on a 2013 Super Snake as well (much better than the currently proposed wheels, that's for sure).

LOL at the dummy who bought them.

Spent about $3000.00 more than everyone else in the past few weeks...

But if you look at the "real" picture. The wheels that sold for $5K were original "SUPER SNAKE" engraved wheels. <<These would be wheels that are "correct" for a Super Snake. The wheels that have most recently been offered are the "general public" Alcoa's. <<These $2K wheels (the Alcoa's offered most recently) do not have Super Snake engraved anywhere on them, they are Alcoa's - Yes, but correct Super Snake Alcoa's - No. It is the correct Super Snake Alcoa's that are of greatest value, and then the general public Alcoa's fall somewhere behind.........

And we will not even discuss the "correct" Super Snake center caps that also came with the $5K Alcoa's............

Was $5k a little high?? Maybe?......................but they are no comparision to the $2K offered Alcoa's, except that they are "Alcoa's".

Naa,

This is the kind of talk i would expect from the guy buying it for $5000.00 The guy selling it says I will sell mine for 5,000 pick up another set at 2,000 and pocket 3,000

and let me further the question. If you buy the "original" supersnake wheels and put them on anything other than a supersnake you still dont have a supersnake. Alcoa made the first wheels, they made the second wheels and 3 years from now they will remake them again I bet.

Besides, you could take these to the mall, drop them off at things remembered and have them engrave them for like $50.00 to say super snake. Who cares???

Peteypab2133 when you get yours engraved I would love to see pics on how it turned out!

Dont need too. Not going to. Wouldnt make a difference to me, not $3000.00 to have the word supersnake over the word 50 years or whatever...

Obviously this forum is biased. And I can understand, to be super exclusive you have to pay to play. Cannot wait to see the smile on the first persons face that pays $30,000 to shelby to convert their 2013 GT500 into the baddest "looking" super snake ever created just to find someone else who paid about $4000.00 in parts to duplicate it.

Anyone paying 3k to have the words " super snake" on their wheels is retarded. I understand paying for the name but that just takes it to a whole other extreme. As petey said, if we really wanted it to say super snake we could pay 50 or even a couple hundred to get the job done.

In this case your paying 15k for the parts and 15k for the CSM number. Now granted if you pay that extra 15k given by the current super snake market your parts will not depreciate but your car will. As oppose to paying the 15k yourself to make it look the same, not only will the parts depreciate but the car will as well.

I'm glad the SS wheels are identified as such and the 50 Years wheels are identified as well, this brings additional value to both IMO. These are great looking Alcoa/Shelby Wheels that are "Made in America" for a great American car, hard to beat such a great combination.

If you don't understand the value of a genuine SS wheel or the value of the SS pkg. offered by SA, why do you post here?

No one is forced into buying or converting anything...so what's the point?

We have discussed the engraving also. Since appears that the Alcoa finish is a coating/plating, engraving after the fact would break though the Durabright and look.............well, engraved after the fact, chipped around the edges, generally look like crap.

Before this last batch of "Fifty Years" Alcoa's were offered for pre-order, the general public Alcoa's were selling for $4K +, we all watched them, that is where they were. $5K for a set of originals does not seem out seem out of touch in that market. Would I pay $5K, no. The seller did offer them to me before he moved on the the next buyer on his list.

I think that most Alcoa owners now know the current market for these wheels "after they are no longer available", and there are going to be buyers who will pay big $$$ to get them, as we have already witnessed in recent months.
