New Colorado GT-500 owner

Hi all . Really love this forum with all the good available information. Just bought last Wed. a new 2012 kona blue GT-500 here in Colorado. This car has electronics, SVT pp, glass roof, and car cover. Car had the stripe delete however, and I really wanted the stripes. There was another car locally exactly the same except without glass roof but had recaros. It was a tough choice but after sitting in the car and seeing that glass roof, I knew I wanted that bad! I went back and offered them $2k off off MSRP and they bit. THEN I told them I wanted the SVT package red stripes on the car at no extra charge. After a lot of back and forth, they relented and I got the car with stripes for $2k under. The car is so amazing! I am so happy with it! I have a '70 Boss 302 and was originally leaning towards a 2012 LS boss 302, but eventually decided that the look, color availability, HP, and option availability of the Shelby was what I really wanted/needed. I am a very happy camper! Never thought I'd be able to afford a Shelby but the moon must be in the 7th house and jupiter aligned with mars for me. Thanks for the great forum!

If you haven't already been, go to the Shelby Collection in Boulder....the history inside the walls is over the top! A definite MUST DO...

Hi. I live in Longmont. Erik

Erik,

If you haven't already, I suggest you join the Colorado Shelby Breakfast Club. There is a link to it here on Team Shelby in the Regional section but if you can't find it, let us know and someone will post a link for it.

Most of the members seem to be in the greater Denver area so they're right in your backyard. We have monthly gatherings but for some strange reason my schedule hasn't allowed me to make the Co. Springs meets and I've only done a couple of the Denver area meets, most recently the Creme de la Chrome show at the Colorado/Denver Convention Center, which I arrived to late and only saw Mick Y. at.

BBQ's in the summer, Christmas party for the Holidays (coming up soon), Fab. Ford Weekend at Bandimere, etc. etc. etc. It's a great group of folks (male and female) with a common interest...Shelby automobiles, of all kinds. Oh, and the museum tour that Jeff told you about up in Boulder once a year (I HAVE to make that one this year!).

EDIT: DUHHH, Welcome to Team Shelby Forums!

I hope to meet up with you at some point,

PS: My garage is always open to my friends...well, at least "always" in good weather conditions! <lol>

I have attached a picture of my car. Kona blue, 2012 GT-500 with electronics, SVT PP, glass roof, & Car Cover. It is at the dealership right now having the stripes put on. They will be the correct SVT PP red with silver accents. I'll post some more pics later.

I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to attach pictures in this forum. I'm new here. There is no image attachment button and I can't seem to just paste images in here. Can anyone help?

Sill Terhar I see. Good people. I assume you bought through Ralph then? Good guy. They are our main sponsor for the Rocky Mountain Mustang Round-up which occurs on Fathers day weekend in June every year up in Steamboat Springs. Great time with over 500 Mustangs if you've never been.

They were really great to work with. No problems. The guy's name was Dan O'Bryan I believe. I used to go to the Rocky Mountains Mustang round up back in the 80s and 90s when it was first started up pretty regularly but haven't been in quite a few years. I used to show a 69 Mach 1 and the 70 boss 302 that I have now. I am definitely planning on going this next year.

Erik,

I think you already told me this but....WHERE in CO are you? Front Range or Western Slope?

I'd LOVE to see your collection.

Oh, and I noticed that the "new format" doesn't show our locations anymore. Mick (post #12) is the Co. Shelby Breakfast Club guy I wrote of in my initial post and is up in the Denver area along with Jeff and Moncho. Well, now that I look it appears all of the Colorado contingent is replying to you!

I think I already told you, I'm down in The Springs.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just got my car back from Sil-Terhar Ford in Broomfield with the correct SVT PP stripes (Red with silver accents). The stripes look awesome and my opinion really make the car look great.

Only 88 cars last year had this color combo out of 587 Kona Blue Coupes. It will be interesting when the 2012 numbers come out concerning Kona Blue. I wonder how much the Tsunami in Japan affected final numbers due to the factory that makes the metal flake shutting down. I'll post some more pictures later.

Erik

New Stripes!
