4" Brake Duct Inlets

I had tried to find a way to convert the fog lights on my '07 GT500 to brake duct inlets; only to end up with very functional but ugly openings. I had seen svttim's car a few times and liked the looks of his brake duct inlets; so when I picked up the new car from Rehagen Racing, I asked them what they used. I was surprised by their answer: "sanitary sewer pipe". Now I had been to the big box home improvement store to try every available PVC fitting that I could; but nothing fit this opening. But I hadn't tried the thin-walled piping.

 

So this is what we get from the factory:

 

I removed the fog light and started to carve away at the light fixture mounting

 

Here is the opening with all of the excess plastic trimmed away

 

I cut a 3.5" long section of the thin-walled PVC pipe and bevelled the leading edge, and painted the inside surface flat black:

 

Then I pressed the PVC into the fascia opening

 

Here is what the finished product looks like

 

Next is to install the Boss302S brake duct plates and then the ducts themselves. More updates to follow.............
