It's terrible heat all over Texas. I've lived in Texas almost all my life and the mother HOT Summer of all time was 1980 in Dallas/Fort Worth. I can remember it being 100 in the shade and obsessive heat everywhere.

Here is a run down of the Top 10 stretches of 100-plus heat.

1. 42 days -- June 23 - Aug. 3, 1980

2. 33 days -- July 2-Aug. 3, 2011*

3. 29 days -- July 6 - Aug. 3, 1998

4. 25 days -- Aug. 2-26, 1952

5. 24 days -- July 28 - Aug. 20, 1999

6. 20 days -- July 9-28, 1954

7. 19 days -- Aug. 8-26, 2006

8. 18 days -- July 31 - Aug. 17, 2010

8. 18 days -- July 2-19, 1978

10. 17 days -- Aug. 2-18, 1956

1980:

In Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, high temperatures exceeded 100 °F (38 °C) a total of 69 times, including a record 42 consecutive days from June 23 to August 3. Dallas/Fort Worth reached an all-time high when the temperature hit 113 °F (45 °C) for three consecutive days on June 26-28. In all, the Dallas/Fort Worth area saw 29 days in which the previous record high temperature was either broken or tied. Seymour, Texas, would hit 119 °F (48 °C), a record for Texas at the time and still the second-highest temperature ever recorded in the state. Seymour also holds the record for the coldest temperature ever recorded in Texas (-12).

On a more positive note, this makes me want to install the Revan Racing or some type of cooling upgrades even more now!

GG,

Hope things cool off soon. But until it does you can live vicariously through this weather report:

Detailed Local Forecast

  • Today: Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 71F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
  • Tonight: Mainly cloudy. Areas of patchy fog developing. Low 63F. Winds light and variable.

Of course it feels cooler with the wind chill factor :shades:

Can't take the car out too early or the fog leaves dew tracks on it...sheesh!

John

The heat streak was broken today! It's truly amazing what the drop felt like today when it's been over a 100 degrees with some days at 105,106,107. However, it looks like it's going over 100 again soon, however.
