Is anybody going to this? I signed up, but need a hotel room for Saturday night August 13th and they are booked up. So if anyone has an extra bed or room they want to share for that night let me know, I'll be happy to pay half. Thanks,

Dave

I am pretty sure I will be driving my SGTover to Des Moines to go to the MCA show on Saturday. I am not going to be in the show, and have not made plans to spend the night. But I did notice on expedia there are other motels near by that are not booked up.

Are you in the show? I will stop and say hello to you and others that may be going..

Yes, I am in the show. This is my 1st judged MCA show, so not quite sure what to expect. The shows organizer said I have to be present both saturday & sunday to be eligible for an award. I'll look for you 2 + 2.

That will be a great experience for you. Can't wait to see some pictures and hear about what a MCA judged show is like.

If I make it out there, I will for sure stop by.

I am planning on attending. I will only be able to make the show on Saturday though, and because of this I only entered in display only. I hope to see you all there. I will be caravan-ing in with the Mustang Car Club of Omaha.

Glad to hear you all are coming to the show. The holdiay inn as mentioned is booked.

I would check with the raddison. It is 2 min south from the Holiday Inn and 10x nicer as a hotel. Plus has a good restaurant (johnny's steakhouse attached).

I live in Ankeny. I am attending Saturday but not showing. I will look forward to meeting all of you.

Other quality lodging options in Downtown Des Moines (10 min from show destination)

1) Hyatt Place

2) Savery Raddison downtown

3) Marriott Downtown

4) Hotel Ft Des Moines

5) Suites at 800 (nicest place in town)

I got a room at the La Quinta Inn in West Des Moines for $90. It says it's been recently renovated in Spring of 2011. I think it's the one off University about 8 miles from the airport. As long as it's clean and no creepy crawlies in the sheets I'm good. Look forward to seeing all at the show.

I am planning on attending for the weekend. Have two cars registered plus my son has registered his Roush 427R.

Have never been to a national show, but am looking forward to being a part of (especially one so near home).

I had to resrve rooms at different motels on different nights due to booking issues. I would suggest the Baymont Airport Inn as it is very close by and is a nice place.

Am a little worried about weather Friday as they are forecastings thunder storms on Friday. I may hold off and come up Saturday if the weather looks bad.

Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Just FYI, I am meeting up with several members of our Omaha Mustang club at Bass Pro Shops in Council Bluffs today at 1:00 for lunch and meet and greet with other traveling clubs from around the U.S. I am not sure how many cars there will be but I will try to report back after and let you know who and what cars are on their way to the show. See you all Saturday!

Well on Thursday there weren't many cars that showed up. There was a small group of 6-8 cars that stopped in Omaha/Council Bluffs from Canada though which was great (including a sexy new Boss).

Overall I thought the show went great. I only attended Saturday though. There were several great Mustangs in nearly every flavor you can imagine. I really liked seeing the unrestored 67-68 Shelby's along with TWO "Special K's", one of which was on last months cover of Mustang Monthly.

We had nearly perfect weather only having the wind pick up a few times during the day.

It was a pleasure to meet Dave (IASHELBYGT) and Rick (10GT500Kona). You both have great cars!

I actually got to swing by for an hour or so with Linda on our way up to the state fair (Linda is from Iowa and went to school a little north of des moines, in ames). Wonderful day for walking around, looking and talking to folks. I actually think Linda is starting to get into this car thing a little bit, probably good since I am about to drop a mint raising the hp to 800 or so........ :)

Some really fine cars on display.......wish I had to time to spend the whole day there.

Man...the crowds at the state fair were amazing; and the parking horrible...parked (for $) in a guy's front yard about 1/2 mile away from entrance. Stopped at the casino in osceola on the way home about 9 pm for dinner and tried to get a room since we were tired......was informed that because of the state fair impacts, only two rooms were available in the whole town, and that was over an hour prior.

Joe,

It was nice to meet you and Mark (GO SGT) from the Omaha area. There were a lot of awesome cars on display. Thanks for the compliments on my ride. The judges were kind enough to rate me worthy of a 1st place award, so I guess the 4 hours on Friday under the car paid off after all. :yahoo:
