JWok
Does anyone know how to remove the factory installed shift knob on my 2011 GT500? I recently purchased an aluminum shift knob and I don't want to use heat or a wrench to remove the existing one.

Ezareth
I would advise against an aluminum knob. I bought a high quality aluminum Shift knob for my saleen and ended up noticing aluminum rubbing off on my hands after a couple of weeks. I ended up going back to the leather shifter. 2010KonaBlueGT
Does anyone know how to remove the factory installed shift knob on my 2011 GT500? I recently purchased an aluminum shift knob and I don't want to use heat or a wrench to remove the existing one. I removed mine without heat or a strap wrench. It's pretty easy but more complicated than heat/strap wrench. Pop the center console section by grabbing the back end and pulling up on it. Reach under it and remove the two bolts from the passenger side that hold the shift lever to the shifter base. disconnect all of the connectors and pull the console out with the shifter OR; From the underside, unsnap the leather cover and pull the shift lever w/knob and leather boot out. Put two pieces of fairly soft (such as pine) wood in the jaws of a vice and clamp the shifter knob between the wood (you can get it TIGHT with the wood jaw protectors). With a cresent wrench on the "flat" area where the two bolts go through (remove the rubber bushing and metal surround) unscrew the shift lever from the knob. Reverse the proceedure to replace the knob. HTH, Phill
