JLT's new 127mm CFCAI test results, pics, pricing and info

This has been a long time in the making, but we are in production and shipping kits daily.

While our 110mm CAI works great and as advertised, many cars are hitting RWHP numbers we never would have expected in 2006 and a larger intake is needed for better tuning.

Because of this we designed a one piece all carbon fiber intake that measures 127mm ID at the MAF. When we developed our 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 intake we did something completely different for us and incorporated the MAF housing into the tube. This made for a much smoother interior without any transitions, steps or couplers to upset the air flow. Another benefit is the over all look is just plain awesome!

For more details check out the web site: JLT 127mm CFCAI

Ok, so let’s get to some test results.

We grabbed a 08 GT500 last month and did some before and after runs on the dyno.

This car dynoed pretty high for stock, but ended up right where most do with 492 RWHP and 445 RWTQ with the 110mm CAI. We added the 127mm CAI and mail order tune to the results of 505 RWHP and 463 RWTQ.

post-7689-0-59172800-1301333494_thumb.jpg

We saw some pretty good mid range HP gains and about 18-20 RWTQ gains on this particular car. We thought that was kind of high for a stock GT500 over our 110 CAI so we got another stock GT500 this past weekend.

This next car dynoed a little low, but ended up right where they all do. We made 3 stock runs and used the highest run as the comparison and then added the JLT 110/tune then the 127/tune.

The 110mm CAI gained 70 RWHP and 42 RWTQ, but the 127mm CAI gained 80 RWHP and 63 RWTQ. The 127 gained 10 peak RWHP and 20 RWTQ over the 110mm, but even more through out the mid range.

I would have never guessed the gains over our existing kit would be so much, but it is what it is. The bottom line is the 110mm CAI has proven to be one of the best and gains the numbers we advertise.

We don’t just look forward, but are always going back and doing more testing on our products to look for improvements. So if you have a 110mm CAI, you’re good, it’s working as designed. If you’re in the market for a CAI and want to save a few bucks, it’s a perfect kit, but the new 127mm CAI has a cleaner look and can handle much more power as you build your car.

Thank you for reading and if you have any questions feel free to give us a call.

Today we have real Carbon Fiber kits available with black textured plastic and color matched kits coming in 4-8 weeks.

Retail only $449 in CF

Plastic TBD

Wow. Very nice.

Will this new CAI package work with the 2007-09 MUSTANG SVT STRUT BRACE

FRPP Part # M-20201-C?

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9801

No, it will not fit.

That bar limits your CAI options.

Nice numbers Jay! I'd like to see the plastic version... and will it be available in different colors? Thanks

Yes, we will be doing the black and color matched. That will be 4-8 weeks from now.

The heat shield or cover may need to be trimmed. If "flyboy" can get his heep down here I could find out for sure. :hysterical:

Yeah that's a real piece of :censored: he's drivin':hysterical2:

Nice job Jay looks sweet!

Jay-

Any way to incorporate this into the factory CAI that comes on the '10+ models?

Please let me know?

Thx

GUS

No, it's a full replacement intake system. We do have a kit coming out next week for the 2010-11 models with a heat shield that uses the factory grille air inlet duct.

Nice product and results. Are you going to post results from other shops like you did when you came out with the 110 CAI? Always nice to see results of others as well.

I'm sure as kits get out other shops will be posting results, but that's out of my control.

When the 110 came out this was all new and everyone was curious as to the gains of parts and posted the results. Now, over 4 years later shops are reluctant to take the time to do before and afters, but I welcome them.

Well just ordered mine this morning. Great customer service dealing with Jay "the man" himself.

Jay I plan to do some before/after dynos with a local shop to see how my car reacts to the new found air/tune. Will post results. Maybe mine will be one that is on the high side of the curve. :D

Good talking to you too and let me know how it all works out.

So we got the 2008 GT500 back in this weekend and did the pulley swap so we could do more intake testing.

I'll break it down later, but here's a video that shows you everything.

Thanks

Jay

This is the difference between the 110mm CAI and 127mm CAI on the same car with a 2.6 pulley. Watch the video, it tells the whole story.

Ok, so we got the 2008 GT500 back in this weekend for a pulley swap.

Saturday morning I swapped the stock pulley for the Metco 2.6, Metco double bearing idler and installed the NGK spark plugs.

We wanted to do the same intake test we did last week, so I installed our JLT 110mm CAI and our mail order tune and hit the dyno. After a couple runs we swapped the 110mm CAI for our new 127mm CAI and mail order tune for a couple more runs.

Here are the results from the 110mm CAI with just the pulley swap:

post-7689-0-04544600-1302013658_thumb.jpg

Notice where I marked it the gains from the pulley are huge, 48 RWHP and 52 RWTQ

Here are the results from the 127mm CAI with just the pulley swap:

Also noted here on graph the gains from the pulley were 45 RWHP and 46 RWTQ.

Killer gains from just the pulley! :happy feet:

So again, the parts are gaining about what they should, but the 127 seems to be out powering the 110mm by some good HP and TQ across the board.

Carbon Fiber kits are in stock and ABS plastic kits will be another 6-8 weeks.

Check out the web site here: JLT intake kits for GT500's

Check out the video we did showing the basics of a pulley swap and our test results:

Also note, we have this kit available for the 2010-2012 GT500 as well. It's a different heat shield and couple at the throttle body, but other wise the same. The heat shield for the 10-12 uses the air inlet from the grille and seals to the hood.

We do not have tunes for these cars at this time. You will need to get it custom dyno tuned or wait for some of our dealers to get the tunes nailed down. So because of this I do not have power gains for you today. We just know it fits.

I will get it up on our site later today

We have not done full testing on the 2010 or 11, so I can't say. I can say it will all depend on the tune as the stock kit is 113mm and this is 127mm. We have seen 15-20 HP and TQ over our 110mm CAI on 07-09 cars.

So the gains should be there for you as well as long as the tune is right.

As far as gains on the VMP stuff, I really hate to guess on a combo I heven't tested myself. I can say it will work better then what ever you have and look twice as nice :happy feet:

Has anyone put his kit on after having the 123mm whipple kit on there? I am curious to see what is the power difference between the new JLT 127 and the old whipple 123mm. ANybody? Thanks

In all honesty the gains should be minimal, but it's more about it being 1 piece and $150-200 cheaper the Whipple or Vortech kits.

Jay, Any update on a final production release date and price for TS members?

Just got the proto type in last week and needed to make some adjustments to the mold. I expect more proto types this week and then we go into production. So a few more weeks.

Thanks

Jay

Hey Jay

great work and a beautiful finishing, guess we all have a weakness for the CF hehehe. .

Am a bit confused here because i some how cant find the info around, does the tube fit on the 75mm dual throttle? Or is it better to getthe single blade throttle?

KB 75? No, will not fit. Other wise it fits all TB's

Jay
