May 28th, 2011 In Vancouver, WA It's time to get ready to kick off the car season with this great hometown gathering at my house again. Friends, fast cars and good food. It does not get any better. Here are the 4 photos from the last 4 years events. 2007 2008 2009 2010 This year I will be collecting the funds for the event in advance. This will eliminate a lot of work the day of the party collecting money and making change and paying the food vendor. RSVP is required and non refundable if you can't make it. We can't return the food. The $11 fee per person will include a great lunch, some snacks, water for the drive and pay for the portable restroom. I have set up the link below so you can send in the money to my paypal account. Click on the link below to pay. RSVP by making a post on this thread. Include your Screen name, year and make and color of car and the first names of you and your guests if you bring someone. RSVP is required so the food vendor can be prepared to serve us all a great meal. Sandy from the Field Kitchen will be providing us all with a great lunch again. I have included a link to the mobile Kitchen that will be on site at my place. The lunch will include your choice of a main entry and side dish like fries or Salad and a drink. Extras will be available too. The food will be great and since Sandy did this last year, she knows what we all like and how to serve us efficiently. Home Sandy will be offering us a list of great choices like: Gourmet Grilled Wraps Gourmet Angus Burgers Fried Mac and Cheese Fried Cheesecake Espresso Drinks Fresh Fruit Smoothies and Much more..... The schedule will be as follows. 9am – Early arrivals start showing up.This allows you time to wash your car if you want. Soap & wash supplies & air blower will be provided. The Coffee will be on early if you feel like showing up to have a cup with me. 10am to 11am – We will start to park the cars in my ½ acre field to prepare for the photo shoot. 12 Noon – Group photo shoot. 3pm to 6pm – Group local cruise TBD 6:30PM till 11pm - Dinner and Drinks at Rockys Pizza a block away from the hotel. The all you can eat menu is great and only $9.50. There is ample parking. Bring your own car show chair in your trunk. 2. If you don't pay in advance, I'm not adding you to the RSVP list. I need a firm head count and if you send the money, I know you won't back out. If only a dozen people commit, we will just meet at Starbucks for coffee. If this happens....I will refund all the moneys. I will make this judgment call 3 weeks prior to the event. This tip should help hosts and guests alike, because there seems to be a lot of confusion about the meaning of the above term RSVP. Lack of RSVPs - A Growing Problem I hear more and more often, and have found in my personal experience, that hosts often do not receive receive responses to invitation that tell them whether guests plan to attend their parties, even if an RSVP is clearly requested. This could mean either one of two things. First it could mean that rudeness is a growing trend in our society. Or, as I would prefer to believe, people no longer understand what the term means. Assuming the best, and that the reason guests don't RSVP to an invitation is a case of ignorance, not rudeness, I will clarify this for the record. What RSVP Means The term RSVP comes from the French expression "répondez s'il vous plaît", meaning "please respond". If RSVP is written on an invitation it means the invited guest must tell the host whether or not they plan to attend the party. It does not mean to respond only if you're coming, and it does not mean respond only if you're not coming (the expression "regrets only" is reserved for that instance). It means the host needs a definite head count for the planned event, and needs it by the date specified on the invitation. Why It's Inconsiderate to Not RSVP An incomplete list of respondents can cause numerous problems for a host including difficulty in planning food quantities, issues relating to minimum guarantees with catering halls, uncertainty over the number of party favors and difficulties in planning appropriate seating, among other things.
