circleofsnakes
I've noticed the CS6 fascia and hood are no longer available through the store. Is this because SPP is searching for a new supplier? I've also heard rumors that the CS6 fascia may come in fiberglass only. Any truth to this? I'm hoping this isn't the case. I keep finding myself torn between this one and a couple others. My front bumper seems to be attraced the Canadian wildlife from my frequent trips up to Canada. I'd hate to see what a fiberglass bumper would've looked like after my last encounter with one lucky raccoon.

I'd hate to see what a fiberglass bumper would've looked like after my last encounter with one lucky raccoon. I recently purchased the CS6 bumper and yes it is fiberglass. The old supplier went out of business. Everything seems to fit but it does need work to make it fit like it belongs to the car. It had to be pie sliced to fit the corners against the fender. It also had spider cracks in the corners and middle. All of which needed repaired. It needed a bracket in the lower center to support it as well. I'm honestly worried about the quality of my expensive fiberglass bumper. Of all the parts I purchased to do this build this is the only piece I am somewhat disappointed in. I work on composite helicopters and they go for years unless a customer beats it up or it has an incident. The new GT350 is fiberglass and they look great and sturdy as well. SO I am hoping I did OK with the place that is doing the work and install and hope I did not make a mistake by not letting Shelby do the work, though I hear they outsource the glass work anyway. I just hope they may have a warranty on the part if it splits on its own or offer to help fix it. Who knows, I will talk to them when it goes to Shelby for the hood and striping. Trust me when I say the original was no treat either as it was a chore and a half to get it to fit properly but I think fiberglass is too unforgiving as a fascia component. Even mounting the marker lamps require surface grinding to get the lights close to the fascia and I have many e-mails to SAI regarding this issue and even had to use a heat gun to massage the corners into place to fit the fender line. Don't even get me started on the hood as it cost triple what it should have to have it prepped, fiberglassed, painted, striped and installed. If Shelby is doing the install, make sure you have a flat rate cost up front...good luck with your project.

I think next time I will start it earlier so I get better parts options. Thing is, that terlingua, and cs6 kit are just really some of the nicest looking kits out there. Its ashame they couldnt be more durible. I was hoping to make the car a track car, and now I feel it will be more of a nice street car that I will just end up babying. I more or less wanted to make a Shelby that I could drive, not just for show. I have the performance but waited too long for the looks. I will post pictures in a couple of weeks when they are done with it. Do you have any of yours?
circleofsnakes
Looks like i'm gonna go a different route when it comes to the front fascia. This was my number one choice, but i'm not a big fan of fiberglass bumpers. I do still plan on using a lot of other Shelby CS parts.

socalwrench
Looks nice ShelbyCS6, but I really think you need the white rocker panels. The bottom edge would flow to much better. I was also disappointed to find out that the CS hood and bumper are made of fiberglass. Booooo, I say. To be honest, it was a strong reason to keep me from buying them. The original CS6 bumpers like mine were not glass only the hood..but the majority of Shelby hoods both past and present were glass.
socalwrench
Yeah, if I remember correctly, the CS bumpers were urethane until recently.
circleofsnakes
Definitely a good looking bumper. I'm looking more towards the Foose or Saleen Heritage though. I still plan on going with the CS6 hood. Edited April 2, 2011 by circleofsnakes
socalwrench
Here's the heritage bumper. http://www.stage3motorsports.com/product/S06-1101-B17156/2005-09-Mustang-Saleen-H281HeritagePJ-Front-Fascia-Kit.html You'll have to search for the Foose bumper. You can find those for relatively cheap now.
