richstang
From what I have seen the 2011 Mustang Daytona Pace Car was only made as a coupe. But this photo popped up on the with no description. There's a LS Boss 302 in the back ground so I'd bet these are Ford staged photos. Does anyone have any info on this convertible? shelbymotorsports
Appears to be a camera tripod next to what probably is a "soundman" with the headphones on. I'm not sure I would call it a Ford staged photo with a Corvette in the next spot over. Possibly a local car show where Ford brought a few cars for display? Frank S
The only one I know anything about was "made" by shipping the parts to a dealer who installed them on the pre-paid GT/CS. Could be that a dealership employee got hold of some spare or unwanted parts of a kit. Or just an enthusiast liked what he saw, or most of it, and fixed up his own car. It happens... richstang
Thanks for your replies, Yes the grille, rims, and lower chin spoiler are different and some of the decals missiing. The odd part is the Boss302 LS and 2012 Explorer directly behind it. Since those 2 vehicles are not available yet I was thinking it might be a prototype or a special 1 of 1 Ford version going to auction for charity or somethng like that. richstang
There's mores to this one than just a custom made car.... Looking at the web page fordparts.com there are several photo galleries of Ford sponcered events. This car shows up in the Ford area of the 2010 woodward cruise in Michigan and at the 2010 PRI event in Florida. There's a story here I just want to know what it is! Someone out there knows it...argh!!!

sportscars
It turn out that this 2011 pace car convertible is owned by Jamie Allison, Director of North American Ford Motorsports. He had the graphics package added to his Red GT vert. I talked to Jamie a couple of months ago and he did mention his new 5.0 and the pace car graphics he had put on. I dont recall him mentioning that it was a vert however. He did say it is by far the best Mustang he has ever driven. Glad you got the answer!
