Ferrari Dealer has GT350 for Sale

Recommended Posts

i was browsing Autotrader and came across a GT350 for sale by a Ferrari Dealer:

Not just any Ferrari dealership but the dealership located in the Wynn Casino. You know the one that charges admission to their showroom floor. With that in mind you have to chuckle at them using a FREE for sale ad.

Sorry Steve, it's hard for those of us that have been waiting this long for our cars to find much about which to "chuckle" . Nice to see car dealers across the country are getting cars to re-sell while we wait...and wait!

I was wondering what the question on the bottom of the fact sheet on the cars waiting in the storage building was for, the one that says: VIP CAR, with a check box next to it. I think I figured it out. That probably explains how my car dropped in the build order...no check mark next to the VIP CAR!

No, I think I'll pass on the chuckling.

That car was the first delivered to the public. Was delivered prior to Dub's car. First car in at Shelby American. He owns several Ferrari's and is a very prominent business person in the Nevada area. Just the luck of the draw on when the car arrived.

We expected this car to turn quickly. It has less than 200 miles on the odometer. Why is everyone so surprised? He bought the car and then sold the car. Probably for another Ferrari. He had a "NEW" Stallion drove it once, didn't like it and sold it. Less then 100 miles on it. Go figure.

Was this the car that was bought at Barrett Jackson? Wasn't there a non-supercharged car that was let of the corral for a photo op and then returned to be finished? This one perhaps?

Not the first delivered. The car you did see was NA application when we did not have the SC's. This car was being built at the same time. It was delivered to the customer prior to the BJ car. The BJ car was at our facility for some time and utilized for different display opportunities and delivered at a later date.

I apologize if my post offended you. Having a little chuckle at a dealership that charges admission to their showroom but then uses a free listing service to sell a car struck me as funny. If you would like me to delete my post just let me know.

There are 2 VIP cars being built for dealers who had signed up for a Dealer Floor Plan agreement. Requiring them to market and display the vehicle on their show room for a minimum of 6 months. We are just building these cars one in order the other moved up. So it did not have much of an effect at all.

That makes more sense now...It's sort of a "First In - First Out", unless it's not. :headscratch:

Not sure on exactly how's things work but I will tell you that my car was there on May 26th but was one of many delivered the same day. From what I could determine mine was about the 25th delivered. Besides me and Warren, how many TS members posted deliveries before ours? Not too many. Therefore it is quite possible that 20+ VIPs (or regular dudes) had there cars there before mine. Not drinking the punch cause y'all know I was very critical of the process but just stating the info as I know it. I know waiting sucks but knowing what happened to me, I would have gladly traded a later deliver instead if being rear ended and having my car sitting in a dark, cold, dusty and lonely auto body shop. Popa will be there soon baby. :angry22:

There should be a climate ratio added into the build equation where cold weather winter climate waiters could "broker" their earlier build spot to someone from a more rock salt free zone in return for a guaranteed spring delivery date. The waiters that moved up a few spots of course would be required to supply all the adult beverages for the generous waiter at all TS events for life.

Tony,

I appreciate everything you said. And I think if I had been told the truth the whole way through this process I would have been a bit more understanding.

But I was originally told I was car #34, then that dropped to #50. I can only assume that was because of VIP builds and other cars that were inserted into the build string that were not true F.I.F.O. And remember, FIFO was preached as the golden rule!

On top of that we had John Luft's letter telling us that we could expect 5-7 cars per week being built starting Oct 8th. That was 11 weeks ago. Do the math. Even if my car had been dropped to #50 - for whatever reason! - it should have been done by now. But guess what, it hasn't been started yet.

So a car that was delivered in June of 2010, will not have been started until sometime in 2011. Now keep in mind that I received an email sometime back assuring me that my car was being cycled through and all available parts that were on hand were being installed. That was an absolute lie. My car is buried at the back of a storage building and hasn't moved since it was put there way back when.

Am I upset, you bet I am. Do I have a right to be, I believe I do.

Why has your car not been started? Is it a parts shortage from a supplier or what ? 7 months is a very long time and I can see why you are upset.

In no way was I passing judgement. Only trying to state what my interpretation of the facts were. I was po'd also about being lied too and stated so. There is no excuse for the delays and the lack of information and then the misinformation. At #34 or 50 you have every right to be angry! Keep up the full court pressure. I'm sorry this is happening to everyone that is so anxious to get the car. The true enthusiast and shelby loyalists deserve better. Best of luck to everyone waiting - as again I am waiting also.

I can't believe how SAI treats its customers - sale of "out of stock parts", not living up to the stripe problems, not taking an active role in the pre-Shelby Bash activities, just to name a few.

I hurts deeply to write negative comments about SAI because I've been a Shelby admirer since 1967 when I toured the Shelby facility at LAX with Don Pike.

My hope is that SAI steps up the production of the GT350 and compensates those waiting for their dream machine.

From your mouth to Carroll's ears!

As another month goes by I wait along with others. I have confidence in Roger and others that have stated "It will be worth the wait". Family and friends have and are visiting me over the holidays and they have heard me brag about the GT350. They agreed that it is a lengthy time to pay for something you don't have but I've kept my comments and attitude all positive with them.

I hope 2011 will bring good news and dealer's floorplan orders get built in the order they are received. I know having one inside a dealership will bring in some people but the best sales will be made from people that are actually driving them.

When my car is received I have 3 appointments with local Ford dealers in my area to bring the car by for a few hours. The GM's and owners are my friends and I will assist them with every possible sale even if I'm not affiliated with Ford.

I wish I could give you a definitive answer. But first I'd have to get one from SAI. Initially I bought into all the excuses about supply line problems, but the real story behind the delays has yet to be revealed...not that it might not at some point.

Considering that we only see a picture every couple of months of a few completed cars, I'm doubtful that many are actually getting done. It's obvious that the 5-7 per week number is not occurring...or mine would be done!
