Check this out for a workaround. http://www.suntimes.com/business/2712918-420/comcast-outage-dns-internet-servers.html Anyone on Comcast should use Open DNS or Google DNS and get off Comcast's servers. I use Open DNS: http://www.opendns.com/start/ Google: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ Others: http://www.tech-faq.com/public-dns-servers.html
JeffIsHereToo
I can't get my email tonight...I use Comcast...anyone else w/ this problem? I don't understand using your ISP's mail service. It locks you into that ISP and should you ever move out of their service area or decide to switch to AT&T or maybe Verizon FIOS, or some wireless service in the future you loose that email and have to scramble to update everyone and everything. My recommendation is to move your mail to one of the many ISP independent services such as: Gmail Yahoo Mail Apple MobileMe HotMail AOL (no wise cracks) etc... This will allow you to keep the same email across any ISP anywhere and never loose or need to switch your mail. This said your ISP's email address is GREAT for registering at web sites etc., where you now you'll start getting spam etc., and keep your personal email closely guarded to reduce that. Jeff, you make good points, but I prefer to download my emails into Outlook or other email software. Can this be done w/ Gmail, do you know?
