SVT NAJA
I don't watch a lot of TV, but I couldn't pass up the season opener tonight of this TV classic remake on CBS. I suspect that many TS members grew up in the late 60's and 70's watching Steve and Danny busting the bad guys in Oahu, all the while driving around promoting a variety of FoMoCo automobiles. Well, the new remake doesn't disappoint from an acting or scenery standpoint and it features Danny driving a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 with plenty of Ford squad cars in hot pursuit after the new bad guys. And from a peak in the first episode, it looks like the producers even have Steve's old Mercury Marquis Brougham ready to join the show in the future. Here's a good background article and some great YouTube video clips of the new and old shows. http://www.motorauth...i-five-o-remake Book 'em Danno! Son of GT
I watched it too, and agree that they did a pretty good job with it. They kept the "flavor" of the original show, but refreshed it enough to make it a new show for those who never saw the original series. I'm really glad that they kept the original "ventures" (redone of course) opening theme song with a similar opening video sequence too. Can't say for certain, but it looks like the show may take hold.

I really liked seeing the Mustang in the new show. I thought the show was well done and I hope it is a success. Much better than some of the other recent remakes of old shows. sportscars
Funny that it is sponsored by GM (at least the pilot was). Much better IMO than "The Event" on NBC. I also recorded "The Chase" and will watch it tonight.
Larry T
The best part of the show is Grace Park, with the cars coming in a close second!!! http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10959/grace-park-04.jpg
BIKEBOY
This is slightly OFF topic, but it comes to mind nonetheless... As a lifelong car guy, and a FORD enthusiast my entire life as well, I remember watching Andy Griffith through the years to see the newest Galaxie cop cars, as the models progressed! If you think about it, the Ford, GM, and even Mopar, boys were tripping over each other on American television to win our business way back when. What a great way to get into our living rooms with complete undivided attention, eh?

If they didn't makes you wonder why not? Gotta love that 68 though with a 428-4V Steve
ilmor
Apparently it starts on October 4th where I live. I loved the original, so I might give it a look.... edit - never mind - starts at 10pm? Too late....
MikeCMM
I saw the commercial and it look interesting. Until they got to Kono. Who was the lunkhead that decided to make the original 300 pound Hawaiian male character a 110 pound female? Not a good fit with the original. John Canfield
Missed it Monday night, so I went online and watched it on cbs.com. Very well done IMHO, and certainly one I'll make a point of checking out each week if they can keep up the pace and story quality. The producers are the same guys who did the Star Trek movie in 2009 (Orci and Kutzman) with JJ Abrams. Seeing Grace Park is always a plus, and the old Merc is a puls as well. Hope we see more of it in the future. One of the cars used in the original series was on display at the Ford 100 anniversary event, and was a big draw. I've got Chase (Mach 1 scene, apparently) and Event taped to watch tonight...why is it that all of the good shows are on at the same time?

Burning Blue Star IV
IMHO, TV is such crap today! Most major network TV is totally crap. All the so called "reality" shows let everyone get lazy and make lots of money. The only networks with any worthwhile viewing in my opinion is the USA Network, History and Syfy. "Psych", "Covert Affairs", "Royal Pains", "White Collar", "In Plain Sight", and "Burn Notice" are my favorite shows at the moment. The only two remaining shows on major network TV that I watch anymore are "Bones" and "House". And unfortunately they both appear to be on their last legs...they've run their course. As far as the new Hawaii five-O, I doubt I'll watch it. I don't really care for the remakes of the old shows. We all remember the remake of Knight Rider, right? EKK! Even that's a 'show' now. All about , BREAKING NEWS! Who can get the story first? Outside of news, the only thing I can stomach, aside from sports of course, is Two and a Half Men. I love the way that show is written. Of course the wife hates it, because of the way Charlie treats his women! I just asked the wife for my X-mas present the other night actually....the box set of "Rockford Files". Apparently, my all-time fave, and I didn't realize it? Quite a few people I know like that Two and Half Men show, but I never watched it. I have a very unique sense of humor...so most comedies don't appeal to me.
