TEAM SHELBY FORUM

Thoughts From a Fellow Team Shelby Member

Recommended Posts

"Hi CrzyHorse,

You might remember me. I started a topic by asking "Did I get ripped off?"

Here we are a few weeks later and I saw your topic about how you are getting fed up with everyone bashing KR owners. I must say I whole heartedly agree with you and admire your effort.

As a new member I have given up on participating in this entire forum. I have been hit with so many haters, doomsayers, and so much false information that I see it as a waste of time and asking for an argument to open a topic.

I use other sites for radio control, ham radio, archery, and others. In years with all others combined I have not experienced the overwhelming negativity of the Team Shelby site. One point you make that has me reconsidering my position is... it almost all happened from non-KR owners inside the KR forum.

I doubt I'll ever post to Team Shelby again and if I join Team Shelby it will likely be to get a discount on the KR rims and tires -- I'd like to have two extra rims for drag radials and even a couple spares since they are so had to get. It seems the natural integrity; of say, a ham radio forum; just hasn't survived the "my car is my manhood" nature of some Team Shelby members.

I do remember you and a couple others from my days of remorse over being fooled by a dealer about the MSRP of a KR. You guys made me realize how glad I am about the pruchase. Thank you!!! You not in the group I describe above. You the kind of member we need.

Feel free to copy my words and post them if you so desire but for my part I think I'll avoid mud of Team Shelby forums in favor of the local clubs and track and I'll just lurk here when searching for info, rather than waste my time -- I'm fed up too. I have better things to do. I still hope we meet someday and I'll give it all some thought because you do have me thinking and reconsidering if perhaps there is a way to be part of a solution.??? Kind of tough when it exists to impersonally.

Good Luck,

John"

I thought I would share this with everyone in order to show the extent of how some people feel. I am honored that John took the time to share his views and all I hope is to show other members what effect they can have on the quality of these forums. In my opinion, sometimes we forget how much we can make this a positive experience or a negative one...I felt it important to share with everyone.

I know the members that are known to cause trouble and criticize will chime in and unfortunately it will always be the case...who I hope to see are the moderators, SAI employees, and other members who are looking out for the forums as opposed their own benefit to all change the way things are going.

Hmmm. I'll have to reluctantly agree. I was a frequent poster, and just quit for quite a while. I didn't really complain about it, but I found myself getting all tied up in stuff that had nothing to do with Shelbys, Mustangs, or even cars, for that matter. So, I just turned into a lurker and used the site for quick searches on technical information. Despite the mis-information here, there are tons of excellent posts. I have a better car, and I'm a better driver because of Team Shelby, and Team Shelby deserves my support.

I'm back, mainly because the clutch went bad (fixed now) and I wanted a new shifter (ordered one) and this was the place to check and post good information.

CrzyHorse, I read and somewhat quietly replied to your topic last week. I admit to being disappointed and surprised that stuff like this is still going on.

I drive an awesome GT500, slightly modified, that has some history. 85th Birthday, 2008 Terlingua, pictures of Carroll in the car, won some stuff, and met some great people. When I see a GT, or SGT, or KR, I think, "Cool!"

When I see a stock 6-banger Mustang driving down the street, I think, "Cool!"

I really don't care what Mustang you drive, or what year, or what engine. Every single one of these cars is part of a legacy that spans nearly half a century. I happen to think that it's completely amazing. You can still take a stock car with nothing in it, and turn it into a 1000+HP drag-strip monster, track it, take it to work, or whatever you want.

Mustang - The Car Designed to be Designed by You.

There is no "Better" Mustang. Every Mustang is the "Best" Mustang, whether you bought it, modified it, built it, or restored it.

Amen mciarochi. I've never understood the bickering either. We are all here for the same reason. We love Mustangs, especially Shelbys. Everyone has their own reason for buying the car they have. Just enjoy it, and enjoy the (mostly) friendly and helpful information on this site.

Crazyhorse there are always a few bad apples in a batch I wouldn't let them ruin your experience here.

I mainly enjoy going to the events and meeting people in person.

As far as your KR you have one hell of a nice ride and someday I will add one to my collection

I totally agree. I do not understand why people treat people poorly. I own a 65 Shelby clone, I do not even own a real Shelby, wich makes me a prime canidate for abuse. I do not concider my car as a wannabe.I guess you can call my car a representitive for the classic Shelby, since no one else drives one on the street anymore for everyone to see. I love every Mustang out there. The Car Designed to be Designed by You. That is what the original pony car was all about, even today. Shelby just made an already great car better. So the people that dog others are a waste of time to deal with. I say welcome back and embrace the friendly's, ignore the idiots!

CrzyHorse, I'm sorry to hear that you are fed up with the Forum. I would encourage you to look for the good in this site and hopefully take the bad with a grain of salt. I have been so fortunate to have made friends through TS as well as receive endless amounts of amazing advice. If wasn't for TS, there is no way I would be nearly as passionate as I am today about Mustangs. That said, please try to understand that most of the negative comments directed towards (can't remember his TS member name) the fellow KR owner who was fed up, had to do with his lack of respect towards GT500 owners, calling our cars "dime a dozen" and what not. I would think that you would embrace the fact that TS members came together (KR, SS, Terilingua, GTH, GT500 owners) to stand up for and defend the original GT500. That was the only rub that I took away from that Forum.

Nevertheless, you seem like a great bright young guy which TS needs. Hopefully you'll stick around.

Take care,

Jim

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments above

Team Shelby is my idea of what a car club should be. Those of us who have chosen to participate in the events, have been rewarded with memories beyond expectation. It is kind of like finding that babe you adored in high school and ending up in a fun relationship with her 35 years later. Best part, she is still a babe!

I have made many sure-to-be-lifelong friends since joining. We have fostered these new relationships through a common passion for Mustangs and anything Carroll Shelby.

It is funny that the mostly anonymous nay sayers and haters never show up at events, never reach out when they are in town or offer a helping hand.

Hang with us, there are a lot of great people involved with TS. From what I understand, the regions are going to become more active and we will have opportunities for even more good times in the future.

You have your information wrong. The fellow who was fed up was the fellow who's posting this thread. And the dime a dozen comment was mine based on what GT500 owners were bashing our cars. I owned a "dime a dozen" GT500 and purchased it on the notion that it was going to be limited as they said. The comment was based on one GT500 owner who said "my car is faster than yours, na na nana na. Who cares!

Who gives a crap who could beat who. I could put a 300 shot on mine also and do the same. The thing is this car was made in very limited numbers, not like the dime a dozen GT500 which everyone thought was going to be exclusive and I owned. Doesn't matter if you could beat it, run next to me and drive faster and tell all your friends you beat a KR!!!! You could care less if you beat a STi, your thrill would be to beat a KR. Well our thrill is to own a KR. I have had 11 Mustangs a SHelby GT vert, GT500 and now a KR and none of them hold a candle to just driving this machine. As a matter of fact I tried, just like all GT500 owners to mod the car left and right to be something it was never built to be. I finally got a Mustang that I don't ever have to worry about doing exhaust, gears, rims, shifter, lowering the car like I did my GT500 which looked like a 4x4, hood,CAI...etc. If you don't own a KR you could talk and mod until your blue in the face. You would all love to own one...trust me

This just goes to show you how some potentially new members view us here. I don't blame them for not joining the site.

As for me, i've been here long enough to know the different personalities here. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but, what's lacking in a lot of cases is "class". There's a respectable way to disagree.

In the past month, I have seen the KR forum become inundated with members who do not own KRs. I think it OK for them to chime in, but the KR forum is intended for KR owners. It give us a place to talk about this particular breed of Shelby. I actually felt that the KR forum was being hijacked by so many people who don't really need to put there 2 cents in in this area. If it's positive, I am all for it. When the topic becomes negative from a member with not tact / maturity, I just don't post anything on that thread. Ignore the negative comments and promote the great discussions that make owning these time machines a joy.

All Shelby's are great and I love them all !!

The KR Forum is intended for KR discussion, not just owners. I agree, if it's not positive and serves no purpose, than there is no need to post it. I will continue to visit this Forum to stay apprised on the happenings of the KR. To me it's all good info and helps educate me about all things Shelby.

One thing I will never understand is why a very select few people think that you can only post in a certain section. A Team Shelby member is a brother and we can all post in topics we are passionate about. In my mind there is NO difference if someone has a SGT, Hertz, GT500, Supersnake, Terlingua, CS6, CS8, Cobra, GT350, 40th Annivesary, Series 1, GT40, Shelby Dodges, Tiger and last but NOT least the KR's we all love the cars and we all love the passion that it makes us feel.

I totally agree with Michael that the people that I have met that show up at the events are for the most part really awesome folks and most of the negative people on here NEVER show their miserable mugs up at the shows. I have met so many friends on TeamShelby that I speak to at least once a week on the phone and these friendships will last a lifetime.

I don't think anyone is saying others should not post in a sub forum for a car they do not own. What they are trying to say is.....they should not come into a sub forum for a car they do not own and negatively put it, and the owners down.

Some people are cruel and I for one would never ever bash anyone with a KR.I drive a stock 08 GT-500 and I am happy to own my car.Yes I wish I could own a KR and tried.I for one love this site my wife calls it SHELBY PORN.for me great frends met a few members at Mid America a few years ago had and awesome time.I was looking forward going to Grandbury but my boss took vacation and I second in charged so I will have to wait until next time. I would like to meet more people and put faces with screen names.I get hell at work from co-workers they write shelby on forklifts etc supersnake on large forklift jealious people. I will never leave unattended brcause people will key it or scratch it like I seen here. I show It and have numus trophies and etc.

Hmmm KR owners. So someone that may not own them shouldn't like them, enjoy them desire to own one, or participate in the forum? Kind of shallow don't you think? The KR is a Shelby. :fool:

It is those that want to shelter out the have nots that may be the issue. Just my two cents.

Always thought a forum was for all those that enjoy a particular model of Shelby or all of them.

I have made many friends here that have all different models and it is about the Shebly heritage and fun factor not the money spent.

For me I say let us all enjoy the cars and what they are about, Citicize anothers KR or GT500, SGT under your breath. If you like it say so if not that is okay but don't bash. :slapfight:

I do hope those that like the KR's and any other Shelby's continue to participate even though they may not have one. There is enough negativity in our country already. I do agree with way to much bashing going on in most all the forums.

All of the Shelby's are great, including the KR's! But if you think others are being too critical on your forum, you need thicker skin. Just ask any of the 2010-11 owners whose "fugly butts" are routinely criticized by other TS members, or the 2007-11 "stripe delete" crowd who are told their vehicles aren't real Shelby's.

Critical is not the issue....outright bashing and promoting conversations that are meant to decrease the members' car is where the problem is...You bring up the 2010-11 owners and the stripe delete crowd...neither of which deserve what they get...in my opinion. As it was said if you like, say something, if you dont, you can just move on...it really is that simple.
