The Web newsletter GoAutoNews reports Ford has certified the engine for sale in Australia, where the automaker's top V8 today is the same supercharged 5.4-liter engine that produces 540 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque in the Shelby GT 500.The new engine produces more power and uses less fuel, GoAuto reports. Ford's Australian unit has a long and successful history of building high-performance cars and trucks.Ford declined to comment, but if the automaker builds the engine, you can bet U.S. drivers will see it in special editions of the Mustang and F-150.The new V8 goes on sale in the 2011 Mustang.
